Product Description

This chapter of Wrong Turn takes you to the most terrifying place of all--the bloody beginnings. An isolated sanatorium deep in the West Virginia wilderness is deserted after an inbred family of hillbilly cannibals escape and take revenge on their captors. Decades later, a group of college students seek refuge in the now-abandoned hospital after a blizzard derails their plans for a weekend winter break. But when the students encounter the medical ward’s most frightening former patients, their only choice is to fight back... or die trying.

The movie opens in 1974 in our favorite Wrong Turn location: West Virginia. A doctor is giving a new female doctor a tour and introduces the three inbred hillbilly cannibals. They don't feel pain. When they were discovered they were chewing on their parents. Their escape is inevitable (it would be a short film if they stayed locked up). And in classic horror movie form the inmates become the keepers. The battle for the sanitarium is done in style, to the background of classical music ("The Blue Danube"), reminiscent of the violence scenes in "Clockwork Orange." They ironically perform electroshock therapy on the woman doctor (Kristen Harris) who wanted to use "music therapy" on them. I'm loving it. (Okay "The Blue Danube" was in "2001..." and not "Clockwork Orange", but I think you get the idea.) Terrific blood and gore. Hillbilly cannibals are jumping around and grunting like a Monthy Python Mr. Gumby brain specialist, looking like demented Klingons. And this is all before the opening credits!

After the credits, the movie starts out ala Roger Corman style with a nude scene to set the tone for the picture. There are 4 people having sex and one girl not having sex. According to the unwritten slasher code of horror movies the 4 having sex must die and the lone girl who didn't show us her tatas will survive the upcoming snow mobile adventure. But to make this thing interesting there are 8-9 young adults total. If you have read the story line, you know they lose their way and spend the night at the abandoned sanitarium. The kids get drunk and stoned as they explore the place and read medical records for entertainment. You wait for it...and then it is just a question of who lives or who becomes fondue.

The movie offers "Troma" style blood and gore as they remove various body parts. I found it better than the other 3 movies.

F-bomb, sex, nudity (Kaitlyn Wong, Tenika Davis, Terra Vnesa) 5 stars "B" movie.

This is a prequel to the last three wrong turn movies, if like me youre a massive fan of these movies then you wont be disappointed, its your similar set up a bunch of teens end up taking a wrong turn in the middle of no where after getting lost in the snow and find an abandoned psychiatric hospital home to the freaks we all know and love saw tooth, one eye and 3 finger!! Then the bloody massacre begins, theres lashings of blood and gore as usual to keep horror fans happy, lots of imaginative and gross painful deaths, great fun slasher movie, check it out.

Rather than being a sequel, Wrong Turn 4 is infact the prequel to Wrong Turn 3, which charts the beginnings of the deformed cannibal trio Three Finger (Sean Skene), One Eye (Dan Skene) & Saw Tooth (Scott Johnson) that are just as beautiful as they sound. Starting in 1973 in a sanitarium, the then young trio, played by child actors, escape they're cell's along with all the other inmates & massacre the staff. Fast forward to 2003, and a large group of young sexy college teenagers are out for a trip in the snow where they get lost, and you guessed it! they stumble across the sanitarium where the cannibal trio are still living!!

To be honest the film is quite enjoyable in places & i did appreciate the direct approach the film took to get to the gory details as quickly as possible. In this respect it had some really well done mutilation effects for the most part, that will have even the most hardened horror fans squirming in their seat. Along with some quite morbidly funny scenes & lines that are thrown in for seasoning at just the right times. With such a large group of generic good looking teens, from blonde one, brunette one, black/asain lesbian one, you never get attached to any of them because they're isn't any back story to them, other then what you briefly pick up about they're personalities along the way. And at no time do you mind them being killed, because after all, if your going to watch teens be slaughtered, the fact that they are really attractive & having fun just makes you feel better in a weird therapeutic way..... Or maybe that's just me ?...

Now, from a horror movie perspective is where the film falls down a little, in that it uses every cliche in the book i.e isolated location, breaking up into smaller groups & overconfidence when things seem under control etc..

No, seriously, I only found out I'd watched a prequel when I looked it up on the internet after sitting through the film. So, that would explain why it's an `origin' story of those three inbred hillbillies. Basically, they escaped from a secure institution and went on to kill people. That's the backstory. Did they really need to stretch it into an hour and a half?

A group of teenagers - the girls all enormously attractive, wearing tight-fitting tops - and the boys all sporting mock-Justin Bieber haircuts - all go on a skiing trip, but end up in a old asylum (does it really matter why?). Then, after spending the night loudly partying and fondling each other, they discover the hillbillies are in there. You can probably guess what happens next.

Yes, there's some decent gore, but it's extreme gore in place of a story or characters. Seriously, this is one of those films where you're on the baddies' side. The teens are so obnoxious you'll be cheering when they're offed one by one - possibly payback for their lousy acting?

The original `Wrong Turn' movie was a nice little horror gem. However, as we sit here with number 4, it's really just wringing as much money as you can out of a name. This felt like it could have been called anything - it's the ultimate generic horror/slasher film. No, it's not terrible, but I sat through it with a sense that I couldn't care about anything in it because I'd seen it all before...better.
