I purchased a copy of this book because (a) I was researching my Belfast ancestors and (b) I was contemplating erecting a headstone on the unmarked grave of my great grandparents. The book was well written and highly informative, and gave me useful background information of who else is buried in this cemetery. The huge Belfast City Cemetery itself is beautifully located, with views of the hills, and is fantastically well kept, partly due to the efforts of the book's author, former Belfast Mayor Tom Hartley, but mostly to the ongoing work of the knowledgeable and helpful superintendent, Niall and his colleagues. Whether you are interested in Belfast's history in general, and it is all reflected here in this graveyard, or you are simply researching ancestors, this book will prove a most useful guide and an interesting read.

For anyone interested in the history of Belfast City Cemetery this is an excellent book. It also gives a bit of social of Belfast from the mid 1800's to present day.

Tom Hartley has brought to life the belfast city cemetery in this publication.The book is a must buy for anyone considering visiting the cemetery and those who have an interset in this great city.It gives great insight into the history of belfast and the diversity of those interred within the cemetery.
Tom has written the book in a very understandable manor and has placed many beautiful and interesting images in the book.
It has been a pleasure to read.
