Format: Paperback
This is a really excellent book that effortlessly combines 'insider' knowledge of the creative writing process with an in-depth knowledge of writing theory, psychoanalysis and other modes of reflexivity. It's the most sensible book I've read, and the most persuasive, to link the two. Hunt and Sampson neither sell out on the theory, nor lose sight of the creativity in their examination of how the writer can be both 'insider' and 'outsider' in the writing process.

If you're a creative writing student struggling with concept of critical reflection, or finding it hard to see how theory could have any relevance to writing practice, this book will be immensely useful (though it's probably more for Masters level students) It also has writing exercises at the end of every chapter that allow students the chance to 'try out' some of the theoretical perspectives covered in a practical way.

It gave me lots to think about...
