Review

Praise for "A Wrinkle in Time" "A Wrinkle in Time is one of my favorite books of all time. I've read it so often, I know it by heart. Meg Murry was my hero growing up. I wanted glasses and braces and my parents to stick me in an attic bedroom. And I so wanted to save Charles Wallace from IT." --Meg Cabot "A book that every young person should read, a book that provides a road map for seeking knowledge and compassion even at the worst of times, a book to make the world a better place." --Cory Doctorow
Praise for "A Wind in the Door" "A suspenseful, life-and-death drama that is of believable cosmic significance. Complex and rich in mystical religious insights, this is breathtaking entertainment." --"School Library Journal," starred review "Madeleine L'Engle mixes classical theology, contemporary family life, and futuristic science fiction to make a completely convincing tale that should put under its spell both readers familiar with the Murrys and those meeting them for the first time." --"The New York Times Book Review"
Praise for "A Swiftly Tilting Planet" "An intricately woven fantasy ... Theme is L'Engle's greatest forte, and once again she proves this with a compelling plot, rich in style that vibrates with provocative thoughts on universal love, individual caring, and the need for the joy in living." --Booklist, starred review
Praise for "Many Waters" "This will be enjoyed for its suspense and humor as well as its other levels of meaning." --"Kirkus Reviews " "L'Engle blends speculative fiction with biblical theology to create another provocative spellbinding tale." --"Philadelphia Inquirer"
Praise for "An Acceptable Time"
"L'Engle has again achieved the award-winning style of A Wrinkle in Time ... Highly recommended." --VOYA

As a child I remember other children describing this book with a kind of mysterious sense of awe. I had always wanted to read it and now, as an adult, I finally have. It is a wonderful story that deals with painful childhood experiences turning them into a beautiful sci fi story that celebrates a love of ideas and science. It creates a feeling of deeply sinister impending doom which the children must face and overcome through their own courage and love for one another. Its fabulous.

The best children's science fiction story book ever! I first read A wrinkle in time about 40 years ago when I was a school kid and absolutely loved it! So I've just bought the whole box set for my 8 year old son. It arrived in good time and excellent condition. I hope my son loves it as much as I did!

Loved these books. Much more profound and thought-provoking than your average children's books. The only reason it didn't get 5* is that I felt the fifth book was rather samey. It would also have been nice to follow through the story of the main characters from the other books, rather than have them moved away and a different main character.

It's hard to remember that L'Engle struggled to get Wrinkle published - it's now such a classic. This wonderful series of stories is a must-read for children and adults alike.

A Wrinkle in Time: It is so, so refreshing to read a novel where the women are smart in STEM subjects (e.g., Mom is a researcher in molecular biology whose work also touches on physics), but this intelligence is simply woven into the story and is taken as something so normal that it doesn't need to be commented upon: it just is. Madeleine L'Engle is also has a superb, yet easy to read, writing style. Perfect for a 12 or 13 year old. This book was one of my childhood favourites and it is definitely one that I will pass on to my two girls.

I loved Madeleine L'Engle as a kid and have read many of her books again as an adult. I am going to buy this set with the lovely new cover art and start collecting the rest of the Kairos and Chronos books and the Austin series. I read The Arm of the Starfish first, and it has stayed with me always.

My daughter was taken by A Wrinkle in Time, and asked if the author had written any other books. She received this set as a gift, and was extremely happy with it. She's working her way through the books a lightning speed, so they must be worth reading.
