Review

"Wreck you is a book that many could relate to. Keeping your feelings hidden in the chance you could get hurt is hard work, but what if those feelings are reciprocated but due to fear you don't know the wasted opportunities until it's too late." - Minxes Love Books "I have so many reasons why I loved this book. I will try to give them to you without giving anything away. This book had so many feels in it. I laughed, there was happiness, friendship, love and angst. I felt so much love and heartache for these two men." - Alpha Book Club

I really liked this book because it shows the vulnerability that men have. Since when it is other books that involve a female and male relationship, we more often seen the whole the story through the woman’s eyes and the man is the strong dominant type. Whereas, when it is a male/male relationship then we see a side to men that more often than not is hidden in a book that has a heterosexual relationship.

‘There you go again, about you. It’s been about you this whole time. The letters were to soothe your soul, not mine’

Throughout the book it showed how hard it was for Blake because he had a daughter and was gay. Mike misread that and thought Blake was straight because of this. Maybe something would have been done sooner if Mike was not scared to say anything.
Blake decided that he wanted to join the Army because he wanted to give his daughter the best life he could. However, that meant leaving Mike behind. It was such a sad moment in the story because it felt like they were getting somewhere, only for it to be taken away.
Overall, Mike and Blake were so cute together. Seeing how hard it was for them to be together was so heart-breaking. Especially when Blake did not want people in the army to know he was gay. The best line I thought from the whole book was ‘We’re bent, not broken, baby’. I thought it was very witty.

Wreck You by Randi Perrin

Mike is a mechanic at the hard and fast Garage. He has been crushing on the delivery driver, Blake for two years but has never acted on his attraction for fear of rejection. Little does he know that Blake is equally attracted to him as well.

Mike spends his days working as a mechanic and lives for the moments when Blake arrives, he is extremely attracted to Blake but is reluctant to make a move. He is very protective of Blake and appears to be the more Alpha of the two.

Mike – “If I ever had the chance to hold him, I’d make sure he didn’t want me to let him go.”

Mike has some hidden demons and it becomes clear that he has an ongoing internal battle that he needs to fight in order to get his chance of happiness.

Blake is equally attracted to Mike and with some encouragement from a mutual friend tries to let Mike know how he feels, but he has a secret and when it is revealed it has huge consequences for the both of them. Mikes old demons rise to the surface and it is only Blake who has the power to pull him free of their clutches.

This was the first M/M novel I had read and the storyline was very good. I particularly enjoyed seeing how both the characters developed and the blossoming of Blake when he makes amends to Mike. It is clear how much they need each other and how they both help to shape and heal the other with their love and devotion.

Blake – “That voice soothed my soul in a way no one ever had and no other ever would.”

A brilliant novel with a great underlying tone of how love, in so many ways, can heal us all.

I love a good M/M read and Wreck You for me was a great read. I haven't read any of the Trade Me Collection before but i certainly will be doing, Randi Perrin absolutely nailed it with this romance read.

"Still, despite it all, something about him called to me, stirred up every emotion i normally allowed to lie dormant. I wasn't an emotional kind of guy, except when it came to Blake. His shaggy, sandy-blond hair covered his eyes, and a deep tan highlighted his sharp cheekbones. He had a baby face; hell, compared to me he was a baby. Still, that silky-smooth face called out to be kissed without mercy."

Mike is a mechanic at Fast and Hard, with a long standing crush on Blake who happens to be the delivery guy of parts for the garage. Unaware that Blake has the same feelings for him they both try to surpress these feelings but when the chemistry is as strong as it is with these two flirting and banter is unavoidable. Things come to ahead one night but that one night changes everything!! Life for Mike then spirals out of control sending him on a dark path.

Mike – “If I ever had the chance to hold him, I’d make sure he didn’t want me to let him go.”

Blake has never forgot that night and even though they can't be together his feelings have never changed. Until the day comes when he finds out that Mike has been in an accident this news then pushes him to confront and write to Mike not knowing weather Mike is even reading the letters, Blake's life plan changes until he can return home.

Blake – “That voice soothed my soul in a way no one ever had and no other ever would.

Part of the Trade Me collection, Wreck You is the romance story of mechanic Mike and parts deliverer, Blake.

Mike and Blake have danced around their secret crush for each other over the past two years, then a turning point in Blake’s future makes him take a chance to reveal his feelings.

This was a short and sweet tale of the near miss romance between the two love struck men that I found enjoyable. However, because it was a shortened book, I didn’t really get to dig deep to grasp at the level of love these two held for each other. The story however was constructed well and split into three sections of the timeline.

Within the storyline there was some alcohol abuse that may be a trigger for some and I did think Mike’s reaction to what drove him to drink a little over the top for a one-time thing (as it was when it occurred)

I loved the beginning, liked the ending but the middle bit just needed a little bit extra. Overall though an enjoyable m/m romance. Three and a half stars
