I went into this book with no expectations, I didn't read any reviews on it and had never heard of the author before which was great because it meant that this book came as a great surprise. Layla has had a hard life and really has no luck, until she meets Austin. She has no faith in men, she's closed off and tries not to show emotion, but Austin is different and he is the main reason I loved this book.

The humour is great but it's also mixed in with real issues; domestic violence, trust, PTSD, and the sex industry. It gives this book a gritty side which I found interesting to read about. Austin is dealing with PTSD and he tries to cover up the severity of it. I liked hearing about his side of things, he used to be a player but that all changed and Layla pops up at the perfect time for him. You think it's Layla who is worse off but actually Austin needs her more.

I feel like there are two sides to this book, one is the humour and goofiness of Austin, I loved his chats with Layla, so much of it is stuff I'd say myself and it all felt so real. Austin's date idea's are great, it was unique, not something I'd read before. The romance between them is genuine and sweet, even though I would say it followed the traditional romance novel formula, I still found my heart racing at some points. The other side is the grittiness, the violence Layla has to endure, the nightmares Austin suffers, alone they suffer pain but together they heal and it's beautiful. I really found myself caught up in the emotions too.

Another thing that won me over in this book was the reference to my favourite TV series EVER....Friends. Way to my heart! :-)

I would thoroughly recommend this book, it's real and heartwarming, it genuinely made me smile, even after the sadness they've been through. There wasn't full on sex in it, just the hint without all the details which was fine, it worked for the story, but I will definitely be checking out more of the authors

Life has so far dealt Layla a bum deal, between having a father that was never likely to win parent of the year award and a boss that is everything she doesn’t him to be, she is a woman who doesn’t live much, she exists.
The child of an abusive parent, Layla deserved so much more in life but believing that was hard for Layla, she had been beaten down so much her spirit barely flickered anymore. It was as a result of her past that she put up with more than she should have at the hands of her rat of a boss.
Damien Baxter was not a nice man, but that didn’t bother him, and while it worn Layla down, she couldn’t find the strength she needed to walk away.
But could her hero be just around the corner?
Austin Sloan is on leave, he may not want to be on leave but after witnessing the death of a fellow pilot he has been forced to take some long overdue R & R. Conflict changes a man, and while he finds it difficult to see that he has changed, those around him are concerned for his wellbeing.
Layla and Austin run into each other in a bar, cliché I know but who knows where this chance meeting may lead. There is an instant spark of attraction between them but it isn’t until a second encounter that the penny seems to drop.
Austin is sure that there is something between the two of them that deserves to be explored but Layla, she doesn’t make things easy for him.
Layla really did appear to almost have the eight of the word on her shoulders, she just never seemed to have been able to cut a break, her story was tough and I was desperately holding on to the hope that Austin might just be the man to show her what it was like to be happy.
But then again, who was I trying to kid, while Layla had been through the mill, Austin’s horror was more than I could possibly imagine.

HASH(0x8cdcba74) out of 5 stars Wow. Just W O W. Too damn good is an understatement.. 30 Oct. 2015
By Jelena Bosh - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Where the hell do I begin!? I was waiting for another dark, raw and messed up book.. FINALLY!!

As cliche as this sounds, from the very first page, WORTH SAVING become a book I COULD. NOT. PUT. DOWN. And to say it was addictive would be the biggest understatement. I was so engrossed with the story and so emotionally connected with the characters that I went let myself fall asleep at 5.13am. Had to finish this book. Too bloody good.

I was honestly an emotional mess. Not knowing what to do with my messed up mind and clouded soul, I had to force myself to stay awake for another half hour just so I could red something lighter.. No regrets what so ever. WORTH SAVING is my type of book. Without a doubt.

Layla and Austin.

Two individuals that couldn't be more different.

Different yet they possess a quality that brings their souls, minds and hearts together even if they don't know or want it. Undeniable.

I cried so damn much just reading the first chapter. Poor Layla. I mean, how can a monster like her father exist?! How can life for people like Layla ever be fair in any context? Why did I feel such a strong connection with her?? So many questions that kept going round and round in my mind and they never truly stopped even after the end...

I wanted to jump in the book and kick that drunken's monsters face. Ugh. The rage that surfaced for him? Jesus. I still cannot believe how much hate I could have for a fictional character. AND I have read my fair share or dark, breathtakingly, emotionally challenging stories.. It's my bread and butter. With WORTH SAVING my emotional reached a new level. A proper explanation wont write itself but all I can say it, this was one hell of a book!!

Layla left her mentally, physically and sexual abusive not to mention drunk father four years ago. To say that that first night she run away was hard, it compared nothing to the daily "rituals" she has t endure.. I honestly thought that despite having very limited if any choices but to work at a strip club and earn money fast, that she wouldn't be introduced to YET MORE violence. Oh dear god. I can't.

EMOTIONAL

DARK.

INTENSE.

CHALLENGING.

HONEST.

SAD.

HEARTBREAKING.

SOULFUL.

SEXY.

INTIMIDATING.

BEAUTIFUL.

Austin is a soul that no matter what he does, I will ALWAYS ADMIRE. It's just one of those things that feed into your heart and soul when you haven't even realized it. It's just captures the slightest weakness and holds on. Never lets go...

He served his country. He is a soldier. He is a beating heart waiting any second to be stopped. A soul floating between life and death.

Even if I tried, I couldn't have fallen for Austin harder!! If I forget to mention it later or if it isn't already obvious, AUSTIN SLOAN is one of my top book boyfriends. There I say it. <3

He endured so damn much, I nearly broke into a million little tears having to read what he was going though. Cue the awkward kindle hugging moment.. But seriously, I know what it feels like to lose someone you love especially when you CAN'T do ANYTHING to save them. It's THE worse feeling in the world and it haunts you for the rest of your life. That's what happened with Austin. Losing a dear friend brought so many dark into his life..

The way he dealt and later progressed from all that darkness just made my smile grow wider which in turn made me love the story even stronger!!

When Layla and Austin stumble into each others lives, it seems like they unintentionally but FINALLY found someone that would take each one of them out of hell.. Whether emotional, physical or mental, they both had so much baggage on their shoulders. So many permanent physical and mental scars. So much pain and anger that they endured. Just simply, they have too much..

WORTH SAVING is a book that NEEDS the top spot on your TBR! If you want your heart to be ripped apart and your sanity to be gone, this is the book to go for. It's one in a million and I don't say that lightly. It will ruin you at the same time that it makes you realize you felt something, for a fictional world and for made up characters. It's THAT type of book..

I don't want to spoil anything, or anything else, so make sure you let me know your thoughts once you too get messed up with Austin and Layla's story!

Thank you W.S. Greer for this heartbreaking, soulful, sexy, addictive and emotional ARC. I cannot tell you enough how much this book impacted my already messed up heart.. TOO. BLOODY. AMAZING.

xx

Layla really did appear to almost have the eight of the word on her shoulders, she just never seemed to have been able to cut a break, her story was tough and I was desperately holding on to the hope that Austin might just be the man to show her what it was like to be happy.
But then again, who was I trying to kid, while Layla had been through the mill, Austin’s horror was more than I could possibly imagine. The magnitude of war, the things that he had seen, the distress that he and those around him had been party too haunted him and I wanted nothing more than to erase those memories for him.
The author took us on an emotionally difficult ride, things were far from easy and were never as clean cut as they should have been but I understood that everything had its place and that everything happened for a reason.
I got the pain that Layla was engulfed by, I understood that she had secrets that she wasn’t yet ready to divulge but we all know that the things that we keep hidden are the things that we know will tear us apart – and Layla is no different.
When her secret worms its way to the light, she is left standing in the tatters of a relationship that while still in its infancy somewhat, had the potential to be the happiness that has always eluded her.
Could they weather the storm, or would they go their separate ways. At this point I had my fingers crossed for them both. I knew whatever they did the journey was not going to be an easy one.
The story wasn’t exactly of the light and fluffy variety, it hit hard and in some respects it needed too, it didn’t gloss over the harsh realities that this pair had experienced but the author did engage tactics which helped to lift the spirts of not just the characters but also me as the reader.
I found the story touching and deeply reflective and I will certainly be looking out for this author again.
HASH(0x8ced8968) out of 5 stars Such an amazing story , real life struggles and real heartache 23 Oct. 2015

I have always been intrigued by this author. Following him on social media and sharing his work prior to this genre switch. Sadly I never had time to read his series but I know I have it and will find time !! This story is his first in this genre and I have to say I enjoyed it very much. I love dual POV , I am obsessed with male POV and here we get both and not only that but it is all written by a man !! That just does something for me !! I have always loved the men I read in books , yet there is something to be said for reading a man and woman POV written by a guy that you can relate to and have it feel genuine !! Some men do pay attention I guess.

The synop is obviously a piece of the story written by Austin , he is a USAF helicopter pilot and after a few tours and a horrible ending to this last tour he is home being debriefed and getting some much needed R&R time. His story is very real and very heartbreaking to read and now that so many do suffer this daily. These people suffering have risked their lives for our freedom and yet they suffer so much more than we ever have to. We first meet Austin in the moment of horror and then he relives this moment over and over , each time almost more painful than the actual time. He is suffering from PTSD yet he is a great guy and a very honest man. He very innocently meets Layla and just hopes with the little hope he has that she may be interested in something. He has yet to find someone WORTH SAVING , but by the end of this story it seems he may have been in need of saving all along as well.

The prologue starts our introduction to Layla. It is a powerful and also heartbreaking view of the life she had been living. Mother took off when she was a child , father is an abusive drunk and at age 17 her father attempts to go too far and she runs away. Of course without much money and no family it isn't easy to survive. Layla turns to the one thing so many have to turn to in order to make money and survive. 4 years later Layla is doing well for herself yet she hates what she does and feels ashamed of herself. The money has given her a place to live , a vehicle and food but it has ruined her spirit. Having Austin interested in her may seem like an amazing thing yet it is troubling to her because of her job.

As Austin spends his R&R struggling with PTSD , catching up with old friends and attempting at a relationship with Layla, he is not ready for the reality of going back into the field and finding out Layla's real secrets. Layla is able to get time from work and she begins to thrive and enjoy life with Austin. By the time she makes her choice to move on from her job it may be too late. Can Austin and Layla save each other or will they let the past dictate the future ??

4.5 Stars

Layla Davison has escaped her abusive father but finds herself in a somewhat dangerous situation with her job. She fears her boss, Damien Baxter, and is embarrassed of her job but doesn't know how to walk away.

Captain Austin Sloan is a pilot in the war and faces challenges when his replacement is shot and killed in front of him while on duty. While Austin believes he is ok, his boss thinks he has PTSD and he is given time off.

In a chance meeting Austin and Layla meet in a bar and are instantly attracted to each other. When they run into each other days later Austin believes they are meant to be, but breaking down Layla's walls may be more difficult than he imagined but the two hit it off.

Yet, both have demons they are fighting against that don't allow them peace within themselves. Then Austin discovers a huge secret that Layla has been keeping from him and both of their worlds come crashing down around them and one of them needs the guts to get up and keep fighting for them.

I really enjoyed this book. It was heavy but at the same time the author was able to keep it light during some of the dialogue. There were very difficult subjects talked about and dealt with but I found it realistic. I had a bit of an issue with David Baxter not stepping in earlier but the tension would have not been the same had he.

I felt so much pain and sorrow for Layla with trying to escape one demon and then ending up with another but seeing how much growth she had due to the strength she got from Austin. Austin's character had so much trauma and I can only imagine what anyone fighting in any war must go through is incredibly horrific.

This was the first time I had read this author but it certainly will not be my last.

4.5 stars!! Austin and Layla's story was beautiful!

From the prologue we meet Layla and see the horrible things she had to endure. She decides she is not going to take it anymore and leaves the situation. Fast forward 4 years later she's doing the only thing she knows and it's not the best of situations. You feel for her and what she's been through. We meet Austin and something happens to him while he's on deployment that changes him. One night while hanging out with the guys, he meets Layla.

What I loved about this story is that while both Layla and Austin are dealing with issues , they slowly build a friendship and get to know each other. As the friendship grows, so do the feelings. We are taken on a journey of two people who meet at a time when they least expect it. They were what each other needed. WS Greer did an awesome job with their story. I went from sad, to angry (Damien and you will know why) to happy and I love when a story lets me have all the feels. That's when you know you've read a great book. With love, you can do anything and anything is possible as long as you have that person who is there and will always fight for you.

Do yourself a favor and read this story. You will not be disappointed!!
