'Worth Fighting For doesn't stint in its descriptions, and the final pages are distressing, so visceral, that it's like being at Patrick's deathbed. But it's also full of love and joy, because Patrick, happy to be alive, greeted every new day with excitement' --Scotsman Magazine

Lisa's account of how she went into battle with Patrick is at times difficult to read - it's not entertainment - it's someone sharing the reality of what it's like to give 100% support to someone who you love unconditionally as they die. And Patrick wanted to live. He fought against all the odds, kept winning and never gave up. Even in the face of this illness he and Lisa achieved things that were supposed to be impossible. I was in floods of tears at the end.
What I really liked about this book, was Lisa's honesty about Patrick's character. The positive/negative aspects balance each other and shine to illuminate the life of a truly unique person. The book is written with an open heart and left me feeling that I'd experienced a fraction of the pain, learned something about Lisa's great character and some insights into what it takes to build a true and loving relationship.
I would recommend this book to anyone who needs the inspiration and strength to care for a loved one fighting cancer.
