When businesses compete in today's marketplace, mammoth companies like Walmart and Amazon set low prices for their respective sectors and force everyone else to drop their prices, too, often at their economic peril. However, one class of business - boutique firms - chooses not to get into that boxing ring. These organizations set their own business terms by selling customized products and services at premium prices. Boutique business experts Sarah Petty and Erin Verbeck explain (and sometimes repeat) the basics of the boutique business model. getAbstract recommends their insights to would-be entrepreneurs and small-business owners who would like to determine if turning their companies into boutique firms is an appropriate tactic they can use to avoid being competitively forced to discount their prices.

This book suits its name - it really is Worth Every Penny. From the way the book has been produced with silky paper to the content of the book, you won't be disappointed. It is a pleasure to read a book that encourages the boutique style of doing business, and goes on to show how to deliver it. This book should give any small business owner the courage to deliver a boutique level service and avoid the discounting strategy that so many adopt. I'd recommend it to every small business owner who wants a different approach to the hard sell, and wants to deliver exceptional customer service to deliver an experience alongside the product. (not sure why Zoe shows up as ZoA in this review!)

I read a glowing recommendation for this book in a newspaper article and, seen as I was thinking about a mini "relaunch" of my business, decided to give it a go.

What arrived was a very easy to read and well presented, motivational guide to presenting your business.

Whilst the book talks about "boutique" businesses and about presenting a physical store, the thought process and things to think about are easily transferred to an online business like my own.

From how to brand yourself, to dealing with customers, this book guides you through the essentials and has been invaluable for me.
