Nancy Anderson's unique book, Work with Passion, is unlike anything I've ever read. It's a one-of-a-kind, hands-on, practical approach to getting paid to do what comes naturally to you. This is not a job hunt book. It's about the process that takes you to knowing your life's work, what's enjoyable for you, the job or business that uses all of your talents and skills. Doing this work gives you deep personal satisfaction, and all the money you need.

Work with Passion is different from other career books because it connects the emotional and psychological intricacies of early family life to the subconscious blocks that inhibit personal and financial success. I discovered this connection six years ago after I worked through the exercises in the book. I am still amazed by the transformation and changes that have occurred and are still occurring in my life since then. The process was slow and often painful, but it led me to freedom from the past. I've learned that the journey should be enjoyed because that's how you come to know yourself and what you love. The hardest part was letting go of what's familiar and trusting in the unknown. It's been a struggle to dissolve the myth that work should be drudgery, but three years ago I moved to Madrid, Spain and created my own business doing what I love most, language and communication coaching. The journey and process are still unfolding, but thanks to the work Nancy's book encouraged me to do, I'm at a place in my life that I had only dreamt of when I was younger.

Nancy Anderson's approach is practical and inspiring. I read this cover to cover in a weekend while faced with a career change decision. It was a wonderful guide for me. Several months later I picked it up again and began to work through the assignments chapter by chapter. It was truly an exceptional book. I have probably given away more than a dozen copies of this book, and plan to buy and give away even more in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Living My Dream 28 Feb. 2014

I first read this book about 12 years ago. I was at my physical therapist's office and impressed that she'd gone out on her own. She shared her story of seeing Nancy Anderson and then having the tools and courage to open her own practice. Intrigued, I read the book and felt like I had gained a lot of insight into what I wanted to do. I'm always seeking more self-development opportunities so this was the perfect book for me at the time. Fast forward 12 years later - I was unhappy with my work, knew what I wanted to be doing, but couldn't see a way out. I re-read this book and also read WWP Mid Life and Beyond. Since I live in the SF Bay Area, I decided to make an appointment with Nancy. What can I say? She is intuitive, supportive, quickly and easily identified my obstacles, and got a very clear sense of what I'm meant to be doing. What's interesting is that she informed me of all of this even before I had shared all my current endeavors with her. She is that good! Her powerful insights and full confidence in me, led me to finally leave my 13 year position in academics and start my own coaching practice. Perhaps I would have gotten to this point eventually, but I credit Nancy with being the catalyst that helped me realize my full potential and that it was possible to live my dream. The way I imagined my life 15 months ago when I first saw her is coming true - being able to set my own schedule, devote time to meditation, exercise, and then to work hard in full concentration on my business and passion... bliss. I strongly recommend this book for anyone wanting to pursue their passion and calling in life. Do the exercises, open your heat and mind, and don't be afraid to allow yourself to live your passion. I am living proof that if you work on yourself and are wiling to put in the work - Nancy's insights and guidance really works! Whether in person or through the book, she is your biggest champion and knows you have the ability to live your dreams.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life Changing 5 Nov. 2013

I read this book several years ago and what a wonderful journey I began!

It was life changing.I was an accountant working in corporate america when I bought your book. My job was fine but there certainly wasn’t any passion. My children were young and wanted me to stay home and my husband was doing well with his job. He encouraged me to quit which was a difficult decision as change is hard. However, quitting was one of the best decisions that I made. Now that I had more time, I took out the book and started doing the work. I discovered how I had suppressed my artist and creativity. Using this knowledge and Nancy's process, I started my own business, Mustang Web Designs. It was the perfect job – I was able to use my business sense, my newly discovered (as a result of your book) artistic side and I had flexibility to be with my children. Also, as a result of the book, I started meditating which took me down a whole other path. Two years ago, that path started tugging and now I’m really working with passion as a feng shui consultant.

This month, I ran into a young mother. She was trying to decide if she should go back to her corporate job or find something else. I handed her this book.

I have read a number of books about job hunting and this has sparked me like none of the others. I found Nancy Anderson's writing style to be easy to read and her suggestions to be very helpful. She peppered her narrative with stories that demonstrated the successes of her clients and showed a genuine concern for helping others. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is struggling with any life issues, whether job hunting or otherwise.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best of 100 or so self-help books I have read. 2 Sept. 2001

In my early 20's I was an avid reader of self-help and psychology books. I took seminars, workshops, and volunteered in self-help groups for 2 years. I read books literally by the dozen.
I read "Work with Passion" about 5 years ago. It is the only book I can honestly recommend, as it is the only book which ever caused me to change my behavior. Assuming that such a change is the goal of reading a book geared towards helping one's self, then it alone was successful with me.
In reading it I became particularly in touch with the interests I had as a child. Upon reading it, I proceeded to fine-tune my college studies, and two years later had a job in the specialized field I had re-discovered through reading this book.
One thing I hadn't been aware of is that the author offers counseling in Marin County (call 411 for her number). Due to the recession, I am now in a state of career flux once again, and intend on using her personal services for the first time.
Though it helped me, this book may not resolve another person's lengthy (in my case 7 years) search for the "true" profession. However, if you intend on buying a book to help you out, do include this one.

Way more than a workbook. This book requires that you dive deep and really think about who you are how you got to be that way. Very important work to do when looking for your passion.
