5 well deserved stars!!
This is the story of Shiloh, a twenty-one year old who has been kept behind the walls of her father's mansion with her sisters all her life, until her twenty-first birthday where each sister is allowed out for the night only. She's different to her sisters though, one night just isn't enough. She meets Pierce, the bad boy business tycoon and feels an instant attraction. Little does she know, their fathers are enemies.
It's written in the POV of both hero and heroine and I really liked this. I've never read anything from this author before and I was pleasantly rewarded with a well written, well executed book. Be prepared for the gritty drama in between the developing love story.
As said in the blurb, it's loosely based on the original tale of the little mermaid and you can see that as you go through it (the attraction to the ocean, losing her voice, her need not to be caged up and be outside where she belongs etc) but the story is not a fairytale. I really loved the concept and the way the characters developed. I love a strong heroine, but Alpha males win me over. This story has both.
Pierce is as Alpha as they come and I loved him. I couldn't put it down, it had me gripped from the beginning and I was hoping for a happy ever after for Shiloh. I don't want to say anymore in the fear of ruining the story, so I'll finish by saying I'm SO happy I signed up for this ARC.

Shiloh is a crime boss's daughter. Her and her sister have been kept sheltered and no many people know they exist. On her 21st birthday she is given freedom for one day. Shiloh is strong, brave, and a little bit of a rebel. Of course she stumbles upon trouble on her one night of freedom. Pierce is also from a crime family but his family doesn't get along with Shiloh's family. Pierce is not a guy to be messed with. He's a super hot and loyal guy. I won't give away much but when their paths cross and there will be secrets, sacrifice, and romance.
But take my word for it, it's not even close to Fifty Shades. It's better than that... and way more developed! Shiloh is pretty much a nobody in her own home, an invisible child whom no one seems to care about. All she wants is to live her life, and to be someone other than who she is. She desires freedom. On her 21st birthday, she's granted that freedom, but only for a few hours. And after it was dangled in her face... she had to have more. While out of the house, she got tangled up with a man, one she knew was her father's enemy from the get go...
Pierce is not to be toyed with, he's the worst of the worst... a player, a boss, and a scoundrel. He's a bad-ass who even though he knew he shouldn't, he rescues and takes Shiloh into his home, under his care... and things get intensely confusing from there...
This is a story about love, about freedom to be who you are, and about trusting people who show you they can be trusted, instead of the ones who just say 'trust me'. This story is a dark, twisted, tale of a runaway.... where she finds herself living in a world where she's not sure she wants to be found again. This book was so strange, but in a good way. Definitely worth a read in my opinion. Some sexual content violence involved.
This was my first book by the author, so in that aspect I didn't know what to expect - but I really enjoyed her style of writing. As you go back and forth between Shiloh's chapters and Pierce's chapters, there is some overlapping, but just enough to make sure you see all sides of what was happening... I also found myself highlighting long paragraphs in this book.
I wanna share a couple of passages... they won't spoil anything, I promise.
"Everyone thinks I am naive and clueless. No one notices me, and they all think I don't know the kind of person my own father is."
"Shiloh is wordless but not to me. I feel every word."
"I am protected and strong. No longer invisible and overlooked. Never silent and unheard. I may have saved his life once, but he saves mine every single day."
Shiloh has grown up hidden from the world along with her sisters. Their powerful father keeps them locked away in their gated home only letting them out on a particular birthday and then again once he marries them off. Of course Shiloh is the rebel so she takes her 1 night of freedom and turns it into a war of families that reveals many secrets and unites unlikely characters. She goes out and has her innocent fun but when that ends in a life or death choice she chooses to save a man that may bring her more trouble than what she is trying to escape from. Finding him again seems easy enough but what will be at stake fro Shiloh when she takes that step ?? Pierce is in Vegas to celebrate his birthday and he is not from a West coast family so things turn chaotic real fast. Once he is able to head back East he finds himself with an unlikely travel companion that has him so intrigued he too is risking so much to keep her around and attempt to find out her secrets. The sexual tension is crazy , the interactions are intense , the warnings , the tone and of course the danger makes Shiloh and Pierce steaming hot to read !! Hang on tight because the ocean is rough and this couple needs all the help they can get to figure out just what is going on.
Wordless is a fantastic story that had my heart pounding cover to cover, and it was hard to catch my breath. I LOVED the modern twist on The Little Mermaid, and I couldn't get enough! The character development is fantastic, with a colorful cast of secondaries. The simmering chemistry almost choked me, and it finally boiled over into SIZZLING sexy scene goodness that almost short circuited my kindle. Alyne Roberts' brilliant writing style had me on the edge of my seat the entire story, and OMG, I wanted to beg for more after the last page. I'm a huge fan of suspenseful stories, and hers had an original dark twist to it all, and I'm addicted. Her diabolical twists and turns had me screaming f-bombs like a lunatic, as I never saw most of them coming. So, in conclusion, I'm a new fan girl who cannot wait to read more by her, and I'm HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDING Wordless to ALL!
