used for various home baking tasks.
I prefer pure bristles brushes with wooden handles, because the alternatives can
sometimes melt. I tend to give the bristles a gentle tug to remove any loose hairs
before using (this one had bristles that were held very securely).
I'd suggest that pastry brushes are not soaked for a prolonged period of time
because the water may start to dissolve the glue that attaches the bristles to the
handle, causing the bristles to fall out. I just wash the brush in soap and water
and rinse thoroughly under a running tap then leave the brush to dry with the
bristles facing down so the water drains away from the handle.
As mentioned earlier, I use two brushes to avoid flavour contamination between
the two main tasks.
A good brush and therefore recommended
After using for a while, realised that it's a big muckle (Scottish word!) and that it would be better a bit smaller.
Update: re-rated as "rubbish" (from 3 stars) as the "bristle issue" has got worse after being used maybe half a dozen times.
Brush is now unusable. (...amazing how many bristles it has left considering how many it has deposited on the food...)
Previous brush (which looked identical...) lasted maybe 20 years.
Cheap but useless. Avoid.
Just brush it out on a hard surface and you'll soon shift what loose bristles there is.

It does what its meant to and cleans up nicely.
It doesn't leave its bristles all over the food.
Great product. I've seen some reviews mentioning that the bristles fall out, this isn't something I've come across yet, although I've only used it a few times so time will tellPublished 1 month ago by bex
