New book Arrived promptly. Reproduction of original written in 1914. Traces the history of the suffragist movement from its beginnings in 1870's up until start of Great War. It author Millicent Garrett Fawcett writes of her own experiences and contemporary struggles. Great reading for students of the history of Women's Suffrage from its early beginnings - straight from the horse's mouth.

I bought this book and others on this theme, because feminists would rather the world forget what they put to print. So New Zealand was the first country to offer the vote to women at the end of the 19th century. Hmmm I wonder if that vote was conditional like the UK,ie for wealthy women who owned property and were over the age of 30? Men only got the vote in the UK because they died en mass in the trenches of WW1. Thanks General Haig. Wot price did women pay? Feminists? Anyone there? Oh yeah Jewish Prime Minister Disraeli was firmly anti and is quoted in this book.

Very detailed account of women's suffrage in England and how it moved around the world. Could be dry when reading but realizing this only took place in the late 1880's and into the 1900's women had any rights or choices is enlightening. Women have not had much power for very long. The process and perseverance of this women is remarkable. They had reluctance, prejudice , and many brick walls to knock down to get anything for women. Good read and would make great discussion book. Given copy by NetGalley for honest review.
