I normally take a five and a half shoe but seem to have to buy size 6 for the width. So many people said different things about their sizing and what they bought so I ordered a size 6 and a size 7. My daughter wears a size 7 so I also ordered a size eight. Now that had to be enough to be ok didn't it.
I tried the size 6 on and they fit and they are comfortable but not being fond of mule type shoes or loose slip backs decided if the straps wore bigger the size 6 would be too big. I thus sent for the size 5.
The size 5 fit and are comfortable but I can feel my right big toe just touching the plastic at the front every so often. I keep my toe nails very very short so I can see why a person who has longer toe nails would need to have a size bigger.
My biggest foot, the right one, measures nine and a half inches long (almost 24.5 cm) and measuring all the way round the widest part of the foot is 8 and a half inches (almost 22cm.) With my big toe nail cut right back the size 5 is a perfect fit and I can still easily pull the strap up at the back. My left foot is minimally shorter and does not touch the inside of the plastic of the size 5.
I suffer from a disorder that means the during the late afternoon and later my feet and lower legs swell so having the size 6 to hand is just as well.
Since the size 6 arrived (and up to the size 5 arriving) I have been wearing the sandals about the house like slippers waiting to see if the strap goes a little looser but it hasn't.
I have given you the maximum length of my foot that fits in the size 5 sandals and that I can also wear the Size 6 (does not feel too much bigger) so this may help some of you.
They are comfortable and only have tiny bobbles under the foot but not under the main weightbearing part of the heel.
Edit / same day - after four hours of wearing the Size 5 around the house my right big toe started hurting just a little on the toe nail. I got a pair of small scissors and cut the hole in front of the big toe a bit bigger (cutting away from the direction of the other toes. This made the third solid plastic part the same thickness as the first two on the inside of the foot. Having a bigger hole in front of the big toe made all the difference.
I cut the left sandal to match though I was having no pressure problems on the left foot.
This is an addition to my original review: I returned all my shoes and re-ordered size 8 even though I am usually a size 6 or 7 (lately more size 7). The size 8's are perfect for me. I have now had these for over 18 months. One of the black pairs I have worn literally every day I use them every time I get out of bed and the whole time I am up out of bed. I have dumped my yukky slippers. These I can use as slippers, use them round the house and even go outside in them. I wash & scrub them regularly to keep them nice and clean and new looking. Despite using them every day as my only footwear since purchase there is no sign at all of any wear or damage and they still look brand new!
Sizing: Judging by the comments: Say I am usually 7 and I needed size 8
Second comment states: They needed a larger size too
Third comment states: She/he ordered a larger size and needed their own size
I think the sizing shows that the shoes vary in size and that maybe it will be just luck. The other issue over sizing of footwear is that this has changed drastically over the years and so for people who years ago used to be a size 6 they probably would now need size 7 footwear. However, if you regulargly buy footwear you may find your usual size will be just fine!
I will never buy a pair of slippers ever again! These are so comfortable and far more supportive for my feet than slippers. I love the fact that I can wash & scrub them regularly. Also so easy to slip on & off. Perfect for both indoor & outdoor use whatever the weather. mmm well suggest you avoid in snow!! lol Just Great!
