An account of the operational role that women played in World War II. By 1945 nearly half a million women had enlisted into the armed forces. This is the story of the range and depth of their physical and moral resources, despite the inbuilt prejudice shown against them throughout the war.

I have just finished reading this book which i found both eye opening and very well written and easy to read. I would highly recommend this book to anyone like myself who when younger wasn't much into history but now i'm older and have a family of my own. I would like my children to remember what these brave men and women have sacrificed for the good of our nation which would have been a much more different place had these hero's not given of themselves so freely.
