If you have ever experienced a period in your life where a breakdown in communication leads to silence from someone that you care about and then you lose the opportunity to clear up that misunderstanding, you’ll understand exactly why Kate is so determined to confirm what has happened to her loved one. If she has the merest hope that they survived this catastrophic event, she has a chance to say everything that she didn’t before and maybe close the rift between them before it’s too late.
