Enjoyable little comedy about what happens when all the men (except the priest) are taken from a small town to fight in a civil war and their women are left to fend for themselves. Which they do, even finding an answer to what to do about sex. The idea that they would all seek sexual relief in each other is implausible, but is handled well with most of the relationships more hinted at than visually shown.
In fact the DVD cover is misleading, as the film ends up being a gentle lesbian romance between Eva Longoria and one of the women. Christian Slater only appears in shots as a journalist covering the civil war, though one of the best scenes is when, having heard of the town of women without men, he goes there and strips off his kit in front of them only to find they are not interested.
If i did find a flaw it was in that all the women were of a certain age and attractive. Where were the children or elderly women who would have presented arguments against what was happening. But then that was not what the film was about, being an entertaining story of women taking the chance to be totally independent of men.
Great fun and I'm glad i bought this film without knowing much about it at the time.

This film was a great little comedy!
the idea of "what would happen if women had no men to rely on" ..
Although it was clichéd for the most of it, it really did teach a valuable and simple lesson.
honestly there were multiple lessons ~
If people can't take obvious cliches then they shouldn't watch it, because i can imagine they would not rate it fairly becuase they can't look past an intentional character/plot/athstetic etc

Honestly the cover doesn't represent the film as it should, watch it with an open mind ^_^

i really really wanted to like this film, but it was so cliche from the always wearing black lesbian to the town prostitute. this film feels like is should have been made in 1960's. The part that really disappointed me was that the assumption that with out men means with women. Yes love could have blossomed between two women like in every other rom com but the way it was done was out of a sexual need/ men withdrawal symptom.

there were some good moments but not enough to make me a) recommend this movie b) watch this movie ever again

This film had a good cast who did their best, but calling the script 2 dimensional would be generous. I actually like cheesy and predictable films, but this was just bad. If you asked a 5 year old to write the script for this movie, they literally couldn't do a worse job, and would probably do a better one. I can't believe I wasted an hour and a half of my time.

Absolutely awful. After seeing the cover of the DVD you think its going to be a rom-com. Its not! Christian Slater isn't even in the film - I have never watched a film on fast forward before but I had to with this. I'm a big Christian Slater fan but this is really bad - avoid!

This film was not very good. I really wanted to like it and was attracted to watching it as it starred Eva Longoria but was sadly dissapointed. I found the plot a bit too silly, and nothing really happened in it. Shame really.
