As an Argyll and Sutherland Highlander who served 22 years in the 1st Battalion and who had the honour to meet Major General Freddie Graham, this book reminds me of the sacrifices the Argylls made during WW2 and have continued to make to date. Be it Korea, Borneo, Aden, Northern Ireland, or Afganistan. However due to defence cuts made by politicians who have never worn a uniform in their life and who's biggest battle has been to maximise their expenses claim.........this famous regiment is no more......They should hang their head in shame.............Always Argyll....

An excellent personal account. Very readable. My own father was captured in Sicily so I was particularly interested to read about the struggle through the length of Italy as I didn't know much about this important part of the War.
