In this, the fifth outing of the Witch PI series; Jill Gooder can’t help but get involved with a kidnapping case. Unfortunately, this is totally against the wishes of potential love interest, Detective Maxwell, who had a previous case go badly wrong when a private investigator got involved. However, Jill’s determined to solve the case, if only to prove to Maxwell that she isn’t incompetent. Along with the kidnapping, Jill also has to contend with the demands of her sister, Kathy, and cope with the antics of her extended ‘witchy’ family. Oh! And, Winky the cat has decided to write a book!
This was another enjoyable read from the Witch Pi series, and, like the previous books, this was light, fun and easily read in an evening. All the books contain stand-alone stories, but if you want to get the most out of the series, then consider starting with Book 1 (there is an ongoing storyline running throughout the books too). Great fun!
The author must be a first in developing a series round an unadulterated custard cream biscuit. Sorry, there is also a great heroine who whilst being a witch seems to have every frailty of a normal human being. In fact these frailties form an essential part of the story and definitely add to the humour and enjoyment.
The crimes and their solving are always a joy to follow and often come up with surprises along the way to being solved.
They are great stand alone books but do benefit in being read in sequence.
If in doubt give them a try. I did and am hooked.
