I first found this album when it originally came out. It's the album where Badfinger find themselves totally as a band and as writers. Musically, it is seriously influenced by the Beatles Abbey Road, and the songwriting of the band is superlative. Great, timeless tracks are Know One Knows, Dennis and Love Time, but for truly epicene pop, check out "Meanwhile Back at the Ranch" segueing into "Should I Smoke". They were barely afforded the respect they deserve when in their creative heyday. But it's never too late.

Have just revisited my old Badfinger L.P.'s and transfered them onto CD.

'Wish You Were Here'oozes class. Not a bad track on the album and all the songs stand the test of time. What a shame is wasn't given the chance it deserved to become a classic album.

Recently read that Stan Polley is 80, retired and living happily in California. Unfortunately not the same can be said for poor Pete Ham. One of life's many injustices! However we still have these great Ham songs to remind us of how great a songwriter he was and what a great band Badfinger were. Great memories which i'm fortunate enough to be playing in my car these days!

What makes Badfinger such an interesting band is the presence of 3 outstanding songwriters...just as the Beatles and Fleetwood Mac post 1975 had...and if Tom Evans is sadly restricted to one track, albeit the gorgeous King Of The Load, it is really Pete Ham and Joey Molland who take this album to a higher level....Pete's Know One Knows, Dennis and Meanwhile Back At The Ranch are up there with his very best and Joey contribiutes the sublime Love Time and Got To Get Out Of Here as well as the his part of the two medleys...the first of which features the FOURTH Badfinger member Mike Gibbins contributing In The Meantime....which for the drummer of this superb band sounds more Harrisonesque than Ringo...Chris Thomas your production is SUPERB and YES this album deserved to become the classic it was before the RIDICULOUS record company removed it from circulation....due to some LUDICROUS business dispute....this is the strongest example of what was bad about the record business in the 1970s....all about money and not giving a monkey's about how good the music was......I hold Stan Polly 100% responsible for Ham's suicide....well not 100% but you know what I mean!!!! It's a complete disgrace that this band were treated with the utter contempt of a business which showed itself to be as rotten as a Non-Beatles Apple.....luckily we now have this album on CD so we can enjoy and tell those ridiculous business suits to go forth and multiply which they should have done 29 years ago....NOTHING STOPS THIS ALBUM FROM DESERVING THE TREMENDOUS ACCOLADES IT TRULY DESERVES...I will STOP now but I think my point is MADE.
