This is a fast paced, action racer. Sure there could be a wider variety of weaponry, but it doesn't need it. My only qualms are the rubber banding in the campaign, you can race perfectly, taking out your rivals and they'll still be directly behind you /overtaking you. And the matchmaking in multiplayer can be bad, difficult to find available games sometimes, though once you're in a lobby you generally stay there rather than having to find a new one for each race.
Graphics, sound, framerate, all fine, haven't noticed anything bad as I'm having too much fun!
Well it does look and play very similar to Rollcage but with better graphics that zip along at a fair rate , maybe to fast
but the frame rate sucks when the are a few others on the track for me to a unplayable state
Get Fast RMX or Mariokart if you are looking for a racing game
The Switch can not handle this or Moto Racer 4
Fantastic throwback of Rollcage days. Online play is quick and accurate, no lag.
Need to play it more to give a more detailed review but first impressions have me blown away, literally!!! If you love driving you’ll love driving on the ceiling with this.
The races are frenetic and spectacular, although the rubberband AI can sometimes make for frustrating outcomes.
There are odd design choices though, particularly in regards to the interface. Unlike pretty much every Playstation game ever released, this game chooses to use the triangle button as the action key, as opposed to X or circle. Except for the screen where you can view your game stats, in which case pressing triangle will return you to the main menu. Also, the default controller scheme maps accelerate to R2 and weapons to L1 and R1. This is not a comfortable way to hold the controller, personally. There are alternate mappings available, but I'm just not sure why the above mappings were chosen as the default.
Minor complaints, though. The game is fantastic and if you had fun with Rollcage/Rollcage Stage II back in the day, you'll have a blast with this.
For those of you still reading, the game is reminscent of the old ROLL CAGE games which were on PS1 back in the days. The games were really cool because you could drive on the wall and ceilings. This game is a mix between Motorstorm on the PS3 and Roll Cage on the PS1. The Graphics on the Nintendo Switch Version are seemingly below average and the Framerate is not a constant 30FPS which really effects the gameplay performance. Games such as Fast RMX and Mario Kart provide a much better performance and steady FPS than this game does at the moment. The developers have done very well to get the game onto Nintendo Switch however they need to make a few more tweaks for it to run perfectly. I think once the game has a steady frame rate it will be Brilliant. Hopefully they should be able to do this in an update.
Also the split screen mode looks like its running in 640x480 resolution ! They quality looks so bad its almost laughable - you can literally compare it to ROLL CAGE on the PS1. They have obviously done this to help the game run smoother but what it does is greatly reduces the draw distance in the game which means its very hard to see obstacles which are coming up.
Great Game, but it needs a few tweaks to be playable. I shall be returning my copy until I hear news of the game being updated and much more playable.
