Product Description

Product Description

Featuring contributions from Robbie McIntosh (guitarist with McCartney, The Pretenders, John Mayer), Audrey Riley (string arranger for Coldplay, Nick Cave) and Leo Abrahams (guitarist for Brian Eno, Florence and the Machine), the recordings took place in a host of vintage studios which echo the authenticity of their sound. Produced by Sam Lakeman and co-produced by veteran engineer Matt Lawrence (Adele, Mumford and sons, Van Morrison) and mixed by the highly acclaimed Mike Crossey (Ben Howard, Jake Bugg, the Arctic Monkeys) and Spike Drake (Dirty Pretty Things, Beverly Knight), the album has a unmistakable quality. Almost two years in the making due to the obvious geographical hurdles and having had time and effort lavished upon it, Winter Mountain's debut features 11 original songs written by Joe and Marty and blends exquisite melodies, unashamedly heartfelt lyrics and above all else, compelling harmonies. 2013 saw the release of their debut EP, "Find Follow" to critical praise across the board. Winter Mountain have won over virtually everyone who's happened upon them. There have been the obvious comparisons to Simon & Garfunkel, the Fleet Foxes and the Everly Brothers and when you hear and see them perform you'll understand why. Yet Winter Mountain bring something new to their vocal delivery, echoing those legendary harmony acts, but adding a vital, contemporary edge that is uniquely their own. Their vocals blend as if they've been harmonising for a lifetime. And although Martin's from Donegal, Ireland and Joseph hails from West Cornwall, you get the impression they were born to sing together.

Review

"They're amazing...awesome harmony singing and such beautiful songs!" -- Rosanne Cash

If you didn t know better, you would swear you were listening to blood harmonies, rather than the blending of voices from diverse parts of the British Isles. With plenty of personality they ve captured that 60 s and 70 s acoustic pop sound and given a taste of the here and now. -- Neil King (Fatea Magazine)

"Tipping their hat to CSNY and Simon & Garfunkel...the pair has strong tunes and vocals...roll on full album!" -- Jason Ritchie (Get Ready To Rock)

"This is totally the kind of single I hope i'll hear each week. They pull off the two part harmonies perfectly, and there's a touch of western California about their sound. I'm really excited to hear what they've got out next." -- Single Of The Week - Olivia Schaff (The Digital Fix)

"These are sweet, breezy vignettes that take hold from the opening chords and recall effortlessly, the likes of America and CSN&Y. The tumbling, romantic rush of Kissing In The Rain and Simon & Garfunkel harmonies of Tell Me are among the highlights but there is barely a wasted note on the whole record. Fabulous."

The story is, two lads, one English, one Irish, bump into each other at a train station in US of A. Both are singer/songwriters and are heading for the same destination, Memphis, the home of rock n'roll. They form a duo and begin a journey that has taken them here...releasing their first album. Their music is so easy to listen to, the harmonies of the two lads are amazing, they just blend together and you could actually miss it as it is so synchronous. Lively tunes such as 'Kissing in the rain' and 'shed a little light' will have you tapping your steering wheel if you are listening to it in the car! Great music and not like the contemporary junk we hear on the radio day in day out. Really worth a buy.

Ive been waiting for this album to come out for months, ive got both their Ep's and have seen them live a few times but this album is totally amazing. You can tell its not overly tweaked in the studio its almost as good as listening to them live and the lyrics of the songs are just beyond words!

I saw this group just over a year ago when they were supporting Seth Lakeman and really enjoyed their set. This CD doesn't disappoint. Although several of the tracks were on a previously released EP they have been slightly reworked so there is a difference, I like the new versions, my daughter isn't so keen - personal choice. I would happily recommend

I saw them recently, supporting Seth Lakeman in concert. I was casual about timing (10 mins after 'doors open') and amazed to find they'd already started. Two distinct and beautiful vocal talents, both blessed with power range and precision. Put together and the harmonies are simply sublime. Underpinned by guitar mastery that I compare to the skill of Lyndsey Buckingham.
I had ordered the CD before the night was out.
2 things:
- How much did I miss of the live show?
- Regardless, I want to see again, and find myself reviewing the remaining tour dates for compatibility and another chance.
I'm not one to spare time for review writing. These guys are worth it though.
Seek them out and enjoy.

I first heard Winter Mountain when they supported Cara Dillon and was blown away by just these two guys singing on stage with a guitar. They are very much the real deal and something you don't see very often.

The album contains some really beautiful and poignant song writing with harmonies vocals and lyrics to match. These guys deserve a lot of credit and hopefully plenty of success with this album. Real music, Real passion, Real talent what more can you ask for. Also Charcoal records have done an outstanding job at producing the album its just spot on a superb listen really capturing Winter Mountains talent.

Saw these guys live by chance a couple of years ago and impressed straight away by their songs and performance.Been waiting ever since for the album and not disappointed great songs which I am relieved to hear have not been spoiled by over production. Stomping tunes luscious harmonies easy to like at first hearing with plenty of depth to draw you back for repeat listens.
