I love Jess Dee and I have a lot of her books already. She pulls you into the stories even though they are short. There is everything you need from the descriptions of where they are (amazing) to great characters and hot sweaty sex. Love it!!

What a cracking story with fate intervening at the last minute. Despite the relief that the right man and woman finally get together it does have some sorrow that not everyone goes away happy. Isn't that just like real life?

HASH(0x8fb2a18c) out of 5 stars Hot Read 25 Jan. 2011

Twelve years is a long time to love someone you can't have.

Rachel Ashberg left everything behind to escape the man she has loved for all that time; a man she can never have because of a promise made to protect his sister, no matter what. Two years after the last time she saw Jackson Brooks, Rachel travels to a gorgeous mountain resort to help her BFF Jenna and her twin celebrate their thirtieth birthday. The problem is, Jenna's brother is Jackson, and Rachel has to find a way to act like she is nothing more than friends with him. Enter Garreth, the handsome and sexy man Rachel decides to use to try and take the edge off. She hopes that enough meaningless sex will dull the edge of her feelings for Jackson, and she can get through the weekend relatively sane. But when Garreth proves to be more than some stranger, in fact he is Jackson's housemate, will Rachel be able to make it through the weekend? What is Garreth's real goal with Rachel and Jackson? Most important, can there be a future, finally, for Rachel and Jackson after all?

Jess Dee has written a touching story of star-crossed lovers, with a bit of a twist. And what a hot twist it is. The emotions in this story pack quite a punch, from the beginning to the end. The characters are well developed, and very likable: these are people you might know or want to know. The location is lovely and seductive and just far enough off the beaten track to work well here. And Jess Dee adds enough hot and sexy action to melt the snow in the whole northern hemisphere.

Rachel is such a strong and loyal friend. She is determined to deny her love for Jackson for as long as it takes, to keep her best friend happy and secure. She takes whatever happiness she can from her life, but there is a hole where her heart should be, because her heart has belonged to Jackson for more than twelve years. I loved her sense of loyalty to Jenna, but I so wanted to see her decide to fight for what she wanted.

Garreth comes to the party with a hidden agenda. On the surface, he seems to just be a hot guy looking to hook up, but there is a method to what he does. He is actually Jackson's best friend, and he shows Jackson what he could have with Rachel, if only he would wise up. Garreth has all the moves, but what I liked most about him is his determination to see his friend happy, no matter what he has to do.

Jackson, the loyal but long-suffering brother, is also one very hot guy. He has given up his one chance at love and happiness because of a promise he made to his sister. But under it all, he truly loves Rachel, and wants to be with her. I liked his passion and his determination to change his life once he realized what both he and his sister had done to the life he and Rachel should have been sharing.

I enjoyed this story on many levels. Yes, it is a very hot and sexy story, but there is a poignant thread of love almost lost forever running through it. I also loved Garreth's methods for dealing with the situation, and how he was able to open Jackson's eyes to what could be. I laughed, and then I cried at the very touching emotions revealed by the three main characters in this marvelous and passionate story. I only hope that Ms. Dee will soon give us Garreth's story, after the happy ending of this one.

WOW, this book has everything you want the love, the friendship, the hot steamy sex that makes the snow melt on that mountain. I usually don't like when books end in a cliffhanger but this one just got me more excited for things to come (no pun intended LOL). Jess Dee is brilliant and everything I have read so far by her is EXCELLENT.

HASH(0x8fb2a4bc) out of 5 stars Winter Fire 15 Feb. 2011

I had really high hopes for this story. The premise sounded like a good read that my book group would enjoy, but I can't recommend it. It would have been a more plausible story if it would have been written for teenagers. It is just beyond imagination and ridiculous that adults would conduct their lives as if they were children. A Promise is important, but not when it is detrimental to the person you made the promise to. People grow up and change.

Rachel Ashberg is about to embark on a hellish weekend at a mountain resort. It's her best friend and her twin brother's thirtieth birthday celebration. She's definitely looking forward to seeing her friend Jenna but more than a little agitated at the thought of seeing Jenna's twin brother Jackson. She's been in love with him for as long as she can remember but Jackson has a rule against dating his twin sister's friends - and it might as well be carved in stone because it's a rule he absolutely will not break.

Rachel is happy that she drove up to the Blue Mountains from Sydney a day early. It gives her a chance to relax and rewind before Jackson and Jenna as well as the rest of their guests arrive. While she's enjoying the warmth of a fire in the hotel lounge when she's approached by a man intent on seduction. Garreth Halt is heading back to Canada in a few weeks and isn't looking for a `happily-ever-after,' just a casual fling would suit him perfectly. As luck would have it, Rachel isn't at all opposed to the idea. Maybe sex with the handsome stranger would tamper the intense desire she harbors for Jackson. What she doesn't expect is for Garreth to pick up on her comments and body language when she mentions her friends and through some creative suggestions he ends up bringing Jackson right into bed with them - without the other man even being there.

Jackson has done his best to ignore his desire for Rachel but nothing prepares him for the reality of seeing her with another man. There is good reason why he doesn't date his twin sister's friends but keeping his hands off Rachel is proving to be much harder than he'd ever imagined. Now thanks to Garreth's insight and unwanted involvement Jackson is gifted with the opportunity to make fantasy a reality.

What goes together better than snowy weather, a warm fire and an even hotter man - or two? In Jess Dee's WINTER FIRE readers are thrust into the troubling heartache involved with being in love with someone who's completely off-limits. Jackson and Rachel have ignored their own mutual desires because of Jackson's vow to protect his sister due to a long ago incident. However, all they're really doing is hurting themselves as their reaction to Garreth's interference proves. While Jackson's protective instincts are commendable, I have to admit I fell in love with Garreth and his blunt honesty and raw sexuality only add to his appeal. There's a feeling of sadness about him that draws me to him - especially when he talks about his own hopeless love interest. WINTER FIRE is a sexy, passionate read that tests the boundaries of friendship and how much you're willing to sacrifice to protect loved ones.
