He held the office of Minister of Munitions as war was reaching its climax and the munitions industry was at its height. He succeeded Lloyd George in that post. At the end of the war Churchill was made Secretary of State for war and air. Not only responsible for demobalisation but also involved in the war in the Baltic when the Baltic states were fighting the Russians for their independence. Churchill then became Secretary of state for the colonies responsible for the mandate in Palestine. This period covers of course the Versailles Peace treaty which Churchill attended. This had serious consequences for later years when Germany disregarded that treaty and Churchill was one of the very few people who stood against that. Happy reading
