I cannot recommend this book and the services offered by Steve enough. I found Steve after realsing my current career was having a negative impact on not just my professional life, but my personal life also. I enlisted the help of Steve and his 6 stage cycle, working on a 1:1 basis and using the book as we transitioned through.

I went into the process feeling confused, cluttered, fed up and with a negative attitude, thinking 'I'm not qualified to do anything else' and 'why would anyone want to emploe me over others, perhaps more experienced in a different industry'. This book and consultancy with Steve, has helped to completely dispell those negative thoughts and beliefs. The exercises that Steve uses in this book, help to unlock aspects, hidden talents, and true desires and values, which I didn't realise I had or had never considered. I am still working through the cycle, and I now have the belief and confidence to go forward and explore what else is out there, which 6 months ago, I would of felt completely out of my reach or capability.

Those looking for career change, but unsue of the hows, what's, if and but's. Those lacking the confidence and with self doubt, should consider this book. Cheers Steve!!!

People think the first book, ‘Winning Through Redundancy’ was helpful in overcoming those imposed situations when work suddenly comes to an abrupt end, often through no fault of your own. But this one is a very different beast for those of us who have suddenly reached a career crossroads in our lives. ‘Winning Through Career Change’ is there to guide and enable you to make the decision and commitment that now is the time to actually do something about it. Maybe you haven’t thought about this in great detail until now. Once you do, and you take the action advised, you will begin to discover new pathways ahead and that new opportunities will begin to unfold.

This clever version of the book has been rightfully repurposed to appeal to a much broader audience and for people who would benefit from direction and support in making a transition to a better life. As you’re reading this now, you are probably already reflecting and considering your own personal circumstances and thinking that now is time to take action, take back control and look forward to a brighter future. I’m wondering if, by now, you may be realising that you already have all the resources you need to make that change ….you just need a friendly guide to help you along the way.

The flowing narrative in the book will navigate you around a 6 Step cyclical and systematic process to allow you to track progress. I don’t know whether you’ll find the many supporting exercises, the strong metaphorical images or the insightful cases studies to be the most helpful in inspiring you with your new journey.

I purchased this book because I was at a transition point in my career and also opted to complete Steve's Online Career Change Programme.
The book together with the programme were really helpful.

The exercises were easy-to-follow and I found them really useful to focus my thinking and define what I wanted to do next. They got me to think about aspects of my career that I would not have considered by myself. The case studies in the book were interesting and very easy to relate to also.

The 6 Step Career Navigation Cycle process described in the book is a simple concept but is thorough, thought-provoking and affirming.
Knowing that I have fully considered my career and life choices thanks to the book has given me reassurance and confidence in the decisions I have made since.

I highly recommend Winning Through Career Change to anyone at a career crossroads.

Change often scares people; it shouldn’t be like that. Getting a new job, changing careers. What is the natural response of the human body for these? Mostly fear. The fear of new and unknown. Steve Preston’s new book, Winning Through Career Change, will be there for you as wise friend supporting you through the process.

Steve discovered that there is a definite process to achieve successful career changes, he developed the Career Navigation Cycle to illustrate the process. The book structure follows the structure of the cycle, Preston takes the reader through the steps, chapter by chapter.

And Steve is there, through the whole time. Reading the book, it feels like you are in the same room, having a 1:1 coaching session with him. He shows you real examples, offers practical tips and steps, asks great questions that make you think so you realise the case is not that bad - even if you find it challenging; you just have to try a different approach.

Steve Preston’s Winning Through Career Change helps you to turn a scary change process into an exciting experience during your career-journey and your tour-guide will be Steve himself.
