Product description

Review

"This book is a winning project in its own right… I was captivated with the simplicity of the messages and the rich illustrations learned from many lives . . . Alastair Campbell deserves congratulations on an engaging text that can help other talented and committed people with potential for success to become winners themselves." (Aldwyn Cooper Huffington Post)

"Law firm leaders preparing for 2016 should read Winners by Alastair Campbell…Campbell tells a fine political anecdote and reports perceptively on interviews with captains of industry, but is most inspiring on sport... Books on strategy and team-working can be heavy-going but he maintains a light touch; and in Adam Smith’s words, gives us some of that “vicarious pleasure” derived from closely observing the “rich and great”." (Richard Sussking The Times)

"Compelling" (Guardian)

"You cannot read Alastair Campbell’s Winners and How They Succeed without being impressed by how many high achievers he knows. This is a handbook for anyone who would like to be like them" (Andy McSmith Independent, Books of the Year)

"One of the most interesting people in Britain and this book is one of the most interesting about winners." (Gavin Esler)

Overall this is a good read although the points made are relatively subjective, there is not any scientific numbers to back up the many statements made. Overall it's a good insight into some interesting and successful people and I would recommend it.

Dropped a star on the review because the author is very bias on his politics which is quite intrusive.

Although not a guy I agree with politically, Campbell hits the nail on the head with this. I'm not a huge reader of self help books but this is a fantastic mix of real world and educational insight. I loved it.

This is one of the best books on how to be good at something that I've ever read. The fact he brings different people into this shows a lot of different takes in one book, rather than just what he's learnt from his own experiences (which love or loathe him, Alastair Campbell definitely has experienced enough to write this based on his own life, but he doesn't.)

The other thing I really liked about this is it's to the point and approachable to ordinary people. A lot of books that could be put into the "how to be successful" category are filled to the brim with fluff taken straight out of Oprah, this doesn't have any of that cringeworthy stuff at all.

If you're interested in how winners think differently or how you can copy the best a bit, buy it. There's no politics in it, so even if you think AC is an evil spin doctor you'll still find it interesting.

This book isn't for you though if you think everyone who ever did well in life was evil.

I read books about improvement, success, business systems and processes and do so at the rate of about a book a week. It's fair to say I have read much and have seen some good and some not so good. I would rate this book as superb. Over 400 pages and packed with information and analysis of successful people, how they did, their motivation and the lessons we can learn from them. I really could not find fault with it. Buy it.
