The Winmau Blade 4 utilises a revolutionary new wiring system that dramatically reduces bounce outs and provides the opportunity for maximum scoring potential. Its predecessor, the Blade 3, set the standard as the Worlds finest staple-free dartboard and the Blade 4 has taken this to a completely new level. The DSW (Dynamic Sector Wire) is now over 50% thinner for best-in-class performance and optimum scoring possibilities. This unique wiring system is constructed from a hi-tech, ultra strong material that is designed to deflect the darts into the target area. The advanced molecular structure of the high tensile steel facilitates total accuracy right across the whole playing surface, whilst lasting even longer.

This was not the fine example of a board I had been watching on TV.
I realise that you dart nuts out there are now going to be saying that the board you see on sky is actually a Unicorn board, but after reviewing the two I decided that I preferred the look of the Winmau, and I must say, I've not been disappointed, excellent board with a great wiring system, which makes those doubles seem that little bit easier.
I've also invested in the Winmau dartboard surround, and have to say that this is also an excellent piece of kit, that may well save my walls.
If you like darts, you're going to love this!!
As dart boards go this I would say is the very best, good quality and looks smart, although I cant say I have played on many others, except for a unicorn gt 180 which I must say is shockingly poor build quality. I have not had a 180 yet, but that is probably not the boards fault.
But, in my second "leg" at my local club, having scored two treble-tops with this latest Winmau, my third dart hit the wire of the top treble and ended up on the floor!!! Sod's Law?
Remember though, the thickness of your dart barrel can be a contributing factor in going for a treble ...and succeeding, no matter (in some respects) the thickness of the wire.
Anyway, you want my recommendation? Buy the Winmau 4 Blade Bristle Dartboard: its just about the best one on the UK market!
There are a few boards in the Winmau range, this one however has improved on the previous generation with a super thin wire. In addition to this the wire is also angled, with a V shape the idea being if the wire is hit the dart is much less likely to be deflected over standard or larger sized wire boards. No staples in this just the wire embedded.
As you'd hope for a top tier maker, the Winmau feels every bit the quality bristle board you would expect. A mounting kit is included, and instructions for the rules of the game. The number wire around the outside can be removed and rotated to ensure a more even wear on the board (20/1/5 are the main sections that get hit a lot) White paint effect looks a little different to some boards, very visible though. Bristle boards are much longer lasting than paper ones, though do cost more. Saying that the Winmau isn't an expensive buy not for what you get.
Standard wire boards feel pretty poor next to this, hitting the wire isn't ideal for scoring it can be annoying to lose a shot; but it also means the dart tip will blunt and need pointing again. This greatly reduces the bounce out and dart wear problems. A great board and one suitable for all levels of skill up to higher level playing. Highly recommended
The new rotalock system is a no brainer and takes no time at all to set up.
It will take a little time to get used to the completely different sound the darts make when they hit the board but so far it's all good.
very well done Winmau
I went for the Blade 4 based on my good experience with the 3. Make no mistake, this is a quality board and the extra thin wiring means that bounce outs are practicaly non-existent. It's not the cheapest in the world but not the most expensive either and I don't think that there is another on the market which could better this for quality/price.
My only critisim is that it does seem to heal a bit more slowly than the Blade 3 but it's by no means a problem.
