Beautifully re-imagined through the incredibly detailed, retro illustrations of David Roberts. One of the season's most beautiful gift books. (Bookseller, Editor's Pick)

Finally, a beautiful gift edition... full of colourful illustrations... another book which should be on every child's bookshelf. (Newbury Weekly News)

The characters are re-imagined for a new generation but in a mode that is perfectly sympathetic to Kenneth Grahame's words. (Lorna Bradbury, The Sunday Telegraph)

This enduring tale of adventure and loyalty is perfect for reading aloud on long winter evenings. (Korky Paul, Sunday Express S Magazine)

Fantastic book for the old & the young - a wonderful edition of a classic tale. The illustrations by David Roberts are really exquisite & capture the spirit of the story perfectly. Would make a lovely gift for a child.. or a treat for yourself (as mine was!) Can't wait to share it with my little boy.
The game cards which come with the book, & which again feature the illustrations of David Roberts, are a really nice touch.

I purchased this to read to my 4 year old grandson who is in his first year of school. He is finding the sharing of friends a little difficult, so I thought as this is all about firendship it would suit this prupose. On receiving the book I saw it is recommennded for 6 year upwards, so I am keeping on the bookshelf for awhile. I may read it myself first so I know where and how to read it with the correct feeling. Illistrations look
Fab-u-lous

A wonderful interpretation of a great classic book. Beautiful, bright and vivid illustrations throughout. A book to cherish for many years and a perfect gift.
There seems to be a few reviews on this products page relating to other versions and formats which is a bit misleading so read carefully. This version by David Roberts was published in September so reviews from six months or more are about other versions.

What a wonderful sumptuous treat for the eyes. This latest version of the children's classic has a smile on every page. The pictures use a glorious pallet of colours and patterns making it something beautiful as well as an enduring story of friendship.
There is a mix of genuine nods to the original publication date; with historic detailing in fashion and homewares, combined with witty and adorable character interpretations. The publisher has left out Pan - but I particularly loved where the illustrator has ensured his presence is still very much felt.
I bought this to give to my goddaughter, but I can't quite bring myself to give it away!
Truly lovely!

Wonderfully illustrated by David Roberts this edition is a real treasure. This classic story really is timeless and the characters are intricately imagined both in words and pictures. Despite already owning a copy of The Wind in the Willows this latest interpretation demanded I buy it. And it proved the perfect excuse to introduce the characters to my 4.5 year old daughter. I was required to read a few pages each night, which I did enthusiastically. She also found delight in the pictures and was hooked on Toad's exploits. The vocabulary is quite grown up but the rhythm of text kept her interested - and it was rewarding to introduce her to new words. After many nights, we reached the end of the adventure. Happily she wanted to start all over again. We have now moved on but it is a book we can all enjoy over and over again. The card game featuring illustrations from the book was a real bonus!

This is a beautiful book and excellent value for money. I purchased it for a girl of 7 for Christmas and she has been over the moon with the story and the illustrations.
