I bought this book for a 12-year old boy who is a keen tennis player. Don't know yet what he thinks of it but I am impressed! A hard-back book with lots of glossy colour pictures. It is broken down into 101 short sections - anything from a tiny paragraph to a page in length with interesting facts and features about Wimbledon. A lot of the sections are short profiles of some of the stars, from the very first days of Wimbledon (long skirts and flannels) to the present. Some of the sections are more varied, such as the introduction of hawks to control and prevent other birds from trespassing on the courts. So - not a great amount of detail on any one topic, but an interesting book to dip into, which doesn't have to be read in order from cover to cover! Suitable for all ages from an enthusiastic 12-year old upwards.

And yet another great tennis book! Superlatives and superlatives all the time for Wimbledon other than the shocking slowing of their grass which has degraded the tennis quality a little - they need to learn how to lay good tennis grass from Queens' groundsman.
