Wimbledon 2009 is the definitive story of the 123rd Championships.
In the Men's Singles, the defending champion Rafael Nadal dramatically withdrew because of injury leaving Roger Federer the favourite to win his sixth crown. In the Ladies Singles, defending champion Venus Williams was also attempting to win her sixth title. Andy Murray carried the hopes of the home nation. In the fourth round against the Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka, the Scot came through a five-set epic which ended at 10.38pm under the new Centre Court roof, the latest a match has finished at SW19. Serena Williams defeated Russia's Elena Dementieva in the longest ever Ladies Semi Final with the American coming back from the brink of defeat.
On July 4th, the Ladies Final was an all-American family affair, Serena Williams versus her older sister Venus. Serena won her third Wimbledon title, and the sisters went on to win the Ladies Doubles title.
In the Men's Final Roger Federer secured a record-breaking fifteenth Grand Slam singles title, defeating the American Andy Roddick who had beaten Andy Murray in the Semi Finals.
In the record books, Federer has now surpassed Pete Sampras, who was present on the Centre Court for the final.
Narrated by Sam Hazeldine, written by Barry Flatman and featuring exclusive contributions from Roger Federer, Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Andy Roddick, Andy Murray, Martina Navratilova, Pete Sampras and Rod Laver, this documentary is a dramatic and highly entertaining record of the proceedings at The Lawn Tennis Championships at Wimbledon 2009.

The sadness of such a close and exciting match is always for the loser if the viewer would in many ways like both of them win. Roddick, another of my favourite players, has lost against Federer in as I recall three Wimbledon finals.
Both of these players are always so exceptionally exciting to watch. Beautiful, stylish, attacking play, stunning services, positive and dynamic. I highly recommend this DVD.
