The second instalment of Ian Doescher's of Shakespearean Star Wars. I think this volume is even better than the first one. The reason being if any story screemed Mcbeth type of themes of darkness such as curruption of the soul, betrayal it is the Empire Strikes Back.

The play format with asides and soliloquies give great character insights into the characters, even better that the films. I love the Han and Leia are arguing than there is an aside of what they are thinking and reslly want to say to each other. There is more emphasis on Luke falling to the darkside in his soliloquy. There is even an interesting angle of Leia thinking towards the darkside in her soliloquy during the escape from Baspin. I am not sure about chorus but it is supposed to be play so I guess the need to be there somewhere.

Anyone who is a fan of Star Wars and especially the Empire Strikes Back definitely give it a read. Though it has every line for the movie in Yoda I mean Elizabethan speech; it is not a long read and most of all it is FUN!!!

I love Star Wars myself, my Dad loves Star Wars, bought this for him for Christmas. What a great combo, a Shakespeare/Star Wars mash-up!
The content is fun, funny, interesting, exciting. To have a new take on a classic story makes it like a new read.
I was so excited to find this as it's hard to find new and unusual gifts, this was perfect!
As always delivery from Amazon was super fast and I could collect from my local post office which is a fantastic help (as opposed to having to go all the way into town to collect from the main p.o. if I was out when item arrived).

Highly recommended by my Grandson. He's an avid reader and when he saw me after finishing the book. He was so enthusiastic, he found all of the books, great fun and a really entertaining read. He loves the humour, as much as the story. The style of writing really appealed to him.

`William Shakespeare's The Empire Striketh Back' written by Ian Doescher is second installment in author's William Shakespeare's Star Wars Trilogy, a unique combination that entertains both readers in love with the English poet and the vast Star Wars universe.

Although at first glance it seems like a joke, the author himself gave a pretty ambitious task to connect the seemingly incompatible - England in which Shakespeare worked and exciting adventurous story that happens across the universe. And to make it clear, though a lot of humor can be found inside Doescher didn't wrote a parody, but a well-made adaptation of Star Wars made in Shakespeare manner. The author uses archaic grammar and vocabulary that was used in his time, combining it with Star Wars slang that although may sound strange, after the reader will become accustomed to it will become very fun to read.

What also have to be mentioned are the black and white illustrations that can be found on the pages of a book that makes it even more funny and enjoyable while looking at known characters pictured in a way drawing were made 500 years ago, dressed in costumes that are at same times are avant-garde and perfect fit for time when Shakespeare lived.

The second part after his `Shakespearian Star Wars' continues space saga accompanying original trilogy of George Lucas. Those familiar with previous Doescher work will feel like reading the next chapters of the original book, with perhaps a little more funny scenes, maybe sometimes even silly, considering that the original Empire Strikes Back was the darkest part of the trilogy.

“This Yoda is indeed a teacher wise,
And hath agreed to train me in the way
Of Jedi.”

This is the second in Ian Doescher’s rendering of William’s Shakespeare’s version of the Star Wars original trilogy. After the triumph of the first book, all our favourite characters and evil villains are back in The Empire Striketh Back. I bet they’d love this at the Globe!

I think this book is even better than the first, the writer (Shakespeare, obviously) having really hit his stride with the witty repartee and quick retorts.

This is great fun; if you’re a fan of the Star Wars movies, you’re sure to enjoy it; if you’re a fan of Shakespeare, it’s great to see what he made of George Lucas’s own epic tales. I’m looking forward to the last of the saga, The Jedi Doth Return.

“Our story endeth, though your hearts do burn,
And shall until the Jedi doth return.”

I loved the first book and this is another fabulous mash-up. Hilarious and intelligent, it actually delves into the psyche of the characters with some outstanding soliloquies. Can't wait for the Jedi to return!

Really clever book retelling this Star Wars tale in the style of Shakespeare. Might be a good way of getting relunctant schoolboys into getting to grips with Shakespearean language by telling them a tale they already know. Good humoured.

A refreshing take on the classic Star Wars Trilogy resulting in hilarity and amusement for all.

The books are a eye catcher for anyone whom is browsing through my bookcase and the detail of the artwork is really something to be admired. Even the book - the dust cover looks like an old book which is a nice touch.

Overall, a very nice - if a little silly - product for anyone who appreciates Star Wars and Shakespeare.
