The hedgehog/mammal home, aka 'Hogitat', came separately to the other two items, in a large box impeccably packed for safe transit.
From the leaflet attached to the hedgehog house:
♦ The Wildlife World Hogitat is designed to be an attractive natural home and safe retreat for hedgehogs. It features a sturdy, rust-proofed steel frame with a waterproof roof liner, a predator defence tunnel and an attractive natural brushwood finish.'
This leaflet is attached to the house inside the bag and I would advise taking it outside to unpack as it does shred the odd few fibres, which I doubt you would want on your hall carpet.
The other items received are:
♦ 1 x 100 g pack of 'Spike's Meaty Feast' & a useful laminated A5-sized folding booklet packed full of details regarding encouraging hedgehogs - what to do and what not to do.
Approximate size (maximum) of the hedgehog house (based on my own):
♦ 50 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm
I have seen a hedgehog passing through my garden, each evening as the light just starts to fade so have sited mine on a track I know he or she travels. It is under fairly dense shrubbery over some crackly dried leaves and padded a little with some cut grass.
The leaflet does advise 'to anchor with a few tent pegs if there are likely to be badgers or boisterous dogs in the vicinity', and goes on to say that apart from 'ensuring that the 'Hogitat' is well insulated by a good covering of leaves and twigs etc, no maintenance is necessary.Read more ›
We have been feeding a hedgehog since early February when he was spotted during the day and not very big. He has now grown a lot. Still not sure if he is using his house but it is there if he needs it!!
The whole kit comes in a large white hessian type bag. The reviewer who said it was messy wasn't wrong - bits of the twiggy fibre it's made out of get dislodged in transit and come loose, laying in the bag. If you try to tip the hedgehog house out, expect half a kilo of small twigs to come out all over your floor. It is big - probably about 60cm long, and 40cm wide. There's an entrance tunnel and the rest is one big chamber. A wire frame, covered in plastic bag type material, with woven stick type fibres on top. It's not very heavy, so we weigh ours down with old plant pots full of last year's compost. It stops it blowing away, but also stops our curious dog lifting it up!Read more ›

Sadly the hedgehog living in my garden didn't use this, maybe he wasn't too impressed with my attempts at making it look homely ;). Read morePublished 11 days ago by Gary Best

Gave this as a gift at Christmas. Lovely item, but sadly no hedgehogs have taken to it yet. (now July)
