About the Author
Phoebe Smith's love of dramatic landscapes has taken her on walking and backpacking adventures all around the world - from wild camping on the Scottish islands, sleeping under a swag in the Australian outback and watching the Northern Lights from a wigwam above the Arctic Circle. She's enjoyed snowshoeing in the Swiss Alps, scrambling in Wadi Rum and canyon walking in the USA. But of all the places she's been it's the UK that holds a special place in her heart and she is adamant that you don't need to travel far to have an adventure.

As Phoebe says "Enjoy rather than endure". Best tip of all!
Although the contents and ideas are good and interesting (although it is a bit of a re-hash of "Extreme Sleeps") , there areas which are just plain wrong and give the impression the book has been assembled at a desk in a publishing house in a city, rather than from "getting out there" and doing the leg work herself. An example of this is in section 5 (starting page 58) where a walk in Mosedale (near Haweswater) is described - lovely walk, nice description etc... except the two-page photo spread that accompanies it on page 62 is the wrong Mosedale! There are several Mosedales in the Lakes and this isn't the one being described in the book - anyone visiting Haweswater and expecting to see that view of Scafell Pike is going to be very disappointed.
So it looks like the author (Phoebe Smith) has written the words, the publishers (Bradt) have used some pretty pictures from a stockpile of photographs (Stewart Smith Photography) and nobody has checked it's correct before it's been printed and flogged to the public.
Phoebe - your books are normally very good - check the manuscript before publishing, please.
Come on folks, you can do better.
Please can someone replace this book? The pages have fallen out already (I have photos to share) it was a present for my boyfriend as we were hoping to take these away over the weekends camping but just started reading this tonight at home and all the pages have started to fall out! Please advise as this is poor quality
