- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 July 2009ok i have to say that though the instructions to set it up are on the box i had a headache at first. Yes you will need a tv to get it set up initially, but it must be a normal tv not hdmi. I spent ages trying to do this on my hdmi tv without success until i tried an old tv which worked, after that it was smooth sailing. I have a hewlett packard monitor and it only supported 720 on it, however it was still sharp and much better than scart. a little bit of the screen didnt fit but i had to adjust the horizontal settings to center it, was also a bit bright so i had to adjust that as well. If your monitor dont have these options you might be screwed. I share the hdmi tv with my whole household so wanted to get this so i could just play in my room on my monitor, did the trick hope this helps you guys.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 August 2013The only thing I did not like is this does not work with the PS2 even if the PS2 does support Hi-def, this cable will not work with a PS2
On the PS3 and Wii though you get the best possible picture with both consoles
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 January 2010Firstly, I am a european customer so these comments may only apply to normal european equipment..
You actually need a TV set in order to set this thing up (because you need to plug the wii into a tv and do some on screen setup to change its video output to a mode comaptible with this cable.)
Also, I can confirm that the image blacks out for a couple of seconds every ten minutes or so when playing ordinary european wii games.
Also, the VGA monitor plug is the wrong sex, a sex changer is included but you will need to modify it by removing some bolts before you can actually use it, and the result is that the VGA cable cannot be screwed into the monitor.
Apart from that the image quality is better than I expected and I am quite pleased with the product.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 September 2017After taking the time to set it all up correctly with the Wii, it seems to work. However, after a full year of use it is plain to see that some games become unplayable due to 1-2 second blackouts that occur frequently. After trying a lot of different settings, games, and monitors, it is pretty clear the problem is introduced by the cable itself. The problem happens whenever the image is mostly white - this somehow cuts the sync to the monitor and the monitor tries to recalibrate. This is why some users have no problems, while others can't use it: it depends on how well the monitor tolerates the loss of sync introduced by the cable. There are also other variables in the mix; reading the feedback from others users it seems this problem affects mostly european sets with NTSC games, but I'm not sure there. Buyer beware!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 March 2013Now my rateing is possibly misleading so I will explain why I gave it 2 stars.
I brought this cable to go from my PS3 to my monitor. Currently I have an existing xbox360 to vga cable used on my monitor and for the xbox360 it works awesome, so I assumed this would work fine for the PS3.
The result was the following.
A dim image output. Which was unaffected by tuning brightness on the monitor.
Washed out colours.
Overpowering whites (too high gamma?)
Whilst the PS3 was useable it was a severely degraded experience, I partially improved it by putting the monitor in a video input mode (improved the colours greatly but not rest of issues).
The PS3 doesnt seem to have native VGA support (whilst the xbox360 does) so that may be the cause of the problem and not the cable, which is why I said this rateing may be misleading, but for those using a PS3 considering this cable I hope you take this review seriously.
I later brought a hdmi to dvi cable after this which works fine, so if you have a monitor with dvi input go for hdmi to dvi instead of composite to vga.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 August 2012Works fine, ok picture quality - far better than my earlier attemt on viewing wii on a pc monitor through a TV-tuner card. As other reviewers said - needed to connect first to a tv in order to set the wii video to 480progressive mode, afterwards works as expected.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 July 2013Needed this cable to hook my ps3 to a dvi monitor via HDMI>DVI and carry audio via av port with this cable, Perfect solution, works very well
Does not come supplied with M/M vga adapter as shown in the picture, so if you need this for picture display, you'll need to order 1 seperate
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 June 2012It's a cable for connecting a Wii to a PC monitor. It does that. What it doesn't do, however, is make the Wii graphics any better - don't expect nice, crisp emulator-style visuals. Indeed, the fact that it looks like someone's smeared vaseline over your monitor isn't wonderful. But then, that's not the cable's fault and since it does what it's meant to well, it can only get a good score.

WilliamReviewed in Canada on 27 February 20155.0 out of 5 stars Really like these wires
Really like these wires; saved me a lot of money since i was able to just plug my wii into my monitor instead of buying a new TV.
Just to clarify some things I wasn't able to see about these on the web;
Pros:
-It does work with my version of Zelda: Wind Waker on gamecube. Some reviews on the amazon US said that it wouldnt work with gamecube games but at first it says ''signal input not recognized'' or something like that and then couples of minutes later the game appear.
-The wires came with a AV cables (RCA) to JACK converter which allows you to plug speakers or headphones into and hear your game's sound.
Cons:
-The resolution seems, on my screen, not that good... there are some lines in the screen, like if you were playing on an old Tv.
-The sound that goes into my headphones is not that good... and i have a pretty decent pair of headphones.
I would still give this a 5 stars because i am not quite sure at the moment if the screen resolution and the audio problems are the fault of the cables. Plus, i dont really mind since I can play my old games (even the gamecube ones). Definitely recommend it.

lili888Reviewed in France on 10 August 20165.0 out of 5 stars très bien!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

R. SiccardiReviewed in Italy on 25 September 20145.0 out of 5 stars Ottimo prodotto, da sapere alcune cose
2) tutto a destra + click
3) dall'alto conta tre vibrazioni + click
4) di nuovo dall'alto contra tre vibrazioni + click
5) dall'alto conta tre vibrazioni + click

CarlosReviewed in Spain on 26 December 20135.0 out of 5 stars PERFECTO PARA WII U SIN HDMI

MONITER: HP 2010i 20" Diagonal HD Ready Widescreen LCD Monitor
this is a great product for the price, it does what it says and is easy to use
**YOU MUST PLAY IN 480p**
1. OPEN PACKAGE AND PLUG THE CABLE INTO YOUR TV
2. GO TO WII OPTIONS > SCREEN > RESOLUTION > 480p
3. SETTINGS SHOULD SAVE, YOU CAN NOW BRING IT TO YOUR MONITER
--------------------------
THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THIS PRODUCT IS THE FACT THAT THE SCREEN WILL GO BLACK FOR 3 SECONDS
EVERY 20 MINUTES OR SO
i like this product too much for it to be a problem to me though
i play animal crossing so it's whatever for me, after a day i got used to it
it does happen a lot during games with big bangs or flashes
it happens a lot during call of duty for example, but that shouldn't be a problem if you're a pro like me ;)
great product, i dig it 5/5 because i read previous reviews and was aware there would be black screen bug and it's not a problem to me
