Regardless of its flaws, indulging in this world, these characters, is always a pleasure. Yet, despite my enjoyment, I was left feeling largely dissatisfied.
Detective Lowell, who has been at Zeth and Sloane's backs for a while now, suddenly seems to have become a caricature of a formerly developed, interesting character, over the top and losing the traits which made her an intriguing villain. Fortunately, the inclusion of the Barbieri brothers was excellent, and I am excited to see the direction in which this storyline goes.
For me, the main issue is that this instalment was just a little too short. I love the chapters from Mason's point of view, but there simply weren't enough. Aside from one or two chapters, Hart opted to gloss somewhat over his grief and rehabilitation back into society and life, in favour of skipping forward with Zeth and Sloane's own storyline. Similarly, this instalment seemed to be lacking a little in the grit I expect from this world, or even just from a Callie Hart work in general.
Exciting and pleasurable to continue Zeth and Sloane's journey, Wicked Things feels rushed, incomplete - and could have done with a thorough proofread, too.
We rejoin the Chaos and Ruin series after Sloane had finally told Zeth about the surprise pregnancy. Whilst they are overjoyed about starting a family, Zeth is understandably worried whether he will be make a good father. There is some urgent and dangerous business to attend to with the Barbieri family and the DEA agent Lowell is still trying to get some crime pinned on Zeth so that he is sent back to prison.
Mason is struggling to cope in the aftermath of his sister's death and Kaya re-enters his life in an attempt to get him to move on and start living again. We also see Pippa rekindling her friendship with Sloane and she seems to be spending time with Michael which is intriguing.
But the absolute best part will always be linked to our favourite alpha- male Zeth and I for one will never tire reading about him!
Another triumph Callie Hart!!
It was great to be back with the gang, I've missed them.
Zeth is at his finest and by that I mean he's pushed to his limits when trying to protect Sloane. So the dangerous Zeth comes out to play.
When someone stupidly takes her he will tear the world apart to find out who it was.
He's done playing nice he can only be pushed so far and when the big bad Wolf comes out to play you better stand well back.
Fantastic story as always. It was gripping and I couldn't put it down. I loved how Zeth reminds us why we love him. He's just so Alpha its bloody hot as hell.
I loved seeing Micheal and Mason again too.
I definitely need more of those Babieri boys. They were very intriguing to say the least.
Another great book. Never one to disappoint, Callie is awesome.
I have read all of the subsequent off shoot stories from this one and they were great. The only other thing was that the story was too predictable.
I say that but want to also say that I really do like this author and follow her on Amazon to ensure that I get her books when they come out. Just think that this one wasn't the best!
