Olivia doesn’t want to be married off, as she is happy living a quiet life with her family. All she wants to do is earn a living by painting or becoming a ladies companion. After meeting Lord Blake, she is more determined to live a single and quiet life; he is cold, rude and very controlled. But after her beloved stepfather falls ill, the family decides its time for Olivia to be married off and look after her family.
The instant dislike between the main characters was fun to read. Olivia tried very hard to be a lady, but it wasn’t her fault that Tobias always caught her at her worse moments.
You could understand why Tobias didn’t want to marry, and certainly didn’t want to give into passion, as he didn’t want to turn into a possessive and violent husband.
It’s fun to watch the lord fall for his wife, and it’s fun to watch Olivia come into her own. The other characters in the book were a likeable bunch, and you wanted to read more about them all.
It was a fun read
Most definitely adored this book for many reasons, there's something about honour and stubbornness in a hero that makes him more endearing but takes a feisty heroine to get through to him.
As always I won't give spoilers or any more than is not given in the blurb, as that does the author and potential reader an unjustice. I will say those who love Regency Romance will definitely love this as well as those who adore love being the best medicine you can have wether stubbornness or honour demand it or not Love is more important and the harder won the stronger the love.
Thank you so much Stacy for Writing this book xxxxx
Lady Olivia Sherwood is everything he should not desire in a female—unconventional, too decisive, and utterly without decorum. Olivia is sent to stay with Tobias’ mother in order to learn how to be a lady. The pair are attracted to each other but also spar verbally at every meeting But passion ignites between them and they are discovered emerging from a linen closet. Honour demands they wed, and while Tobias finds himself unwillingly drawn to the bewitching beauty & increasingly he spends all of his waking hours thinking of Livvie.
Tobias is lovely, dark & brooding with a secret that he uses to out pour his feelings. Livvie is a tomboy & a gifted artist who finds it hard to conform to the behaviour expected of a Regency lady. Their relationship is tempestuous made more so by the depth of their feelings. Their road to an HEA isn’t smooth but it’s certainly entertaining. The scene with Sophie Rayburn Tobias’ ex fiancée had me chuckling as did the garden meeting with Lady Arabella.
The first novel I’ve read by the author & it certainly won’t be the last
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book
