Morgan continues to discover her powers as a blood witch of the Woodbane clan. She can't forget Cal, her first love, who tried to kill her, but is surprised to feel a growing attraction for Hunter. Her powers are now so strong that she is in danger from others in her clan and it is important for her to learn to use her witchcraft responsibly. This is the sixth book in the outstanding Wicca/Sweep series (after Book of Shadows,The Coven,Blood Witch,Dark Magick and Awakening). The storyline is action packed and full of twists, and this book is unique in that the danger comes from mundane accidents.
Morgan is finding an inner strength and she and Hunter are tentatively exploring their feelings for one another. They know that there is some kind of emotional connection but are reluctant to overcome their pasts and define their relationship. It is really interesting to see Morgan in a romantic situation where she is forced to take a leading role as she was very passive in her previous relationship.
With the two covens of Cirrus and Kithic now joined, there are more additional characters most of whom don't really get much page time. That said there is a lot going on for Morgan and Hunter in the story and too many side plots would have been very distracting. Mary K is still reeling from her relationship with Bakker, and Morgan is still rebuilding her friendship with Bree. Alice is also left dealing with the events of the previous book which echo throughout this narrative.
All in all, this was another great read and I can't wait to get stuck into The Calling.
These books on the whole portray an accurate depiction as what being wiccan is about. There is abviously some artisic license, as what work of fiction would be complete without it. I myself have lived as a practicing witch for 9 years and found the descriptions of the festivals ect to be very accurate.
For people who are new to the series, Sweep is a series of 15 books about 17 year old Morgan Rowlands, a blood witch who discovers herself and begins a journey full of danger, magick, love, mystery and excitement. This is the 6th book.
For those who have read them and are interested in this book, I can tell you now buy it!!
It begins with, and caries on with intriguing entries by Selene Belltower, who we learn more about through the book. That leads on to Sharon Goodfine holding a circle for Cirrus, where Hunter and Sky suggest that the two Coverns join to make one strong covern (13 people.)Everyone agrees and they decide to call themselves Kithic.
This book is full of interesting plots, like the others; could the missing Cal and Selene have anything to do with the 'accidents' that keep happening? Hunter and Morgan do Tath Meanma and Hunter has a vision of his missing, supposed dead father, but before they can make proper contact, his vision is obscurred by a dark cloud....
This is by far one of the most exciting books, I love Hunter and Morgans complex, tentative and cute relationship, Bree and Robbies romance and even Sky and Raven begin a slightly confused relationship!!
Buy this book, its spellbinding!!
Synopsis done, I'd just like to say that I think this is an AMZING book it had me gripped right 'til the end - and beyond. Well written; good subject/themes/plot... One of the best books I've ever read.
