Why Is My Custard Lumpy? Does Spinach Make You Strong? Does Cheese Give You Nightmares? Is chocolate addictive? In this enchanting compilation, Professor Spoon provides the answer to these and many other vexing questions. Based on the hugely popular character from Waitrose Food Illustrated Magazine, this is a book of everyday kitchen science enlightenment, with a feast of formulae and footnotes, served with charming illustrations. This brilliant, highly entertaining, and informative food-book would also make a great present for a friend or family member.

Based on the previous review and the cover illustration I bought this for my daughter's 11th birthday, a keen cook and baker. She's a very good reader, but the language in this book is beyond her - the presentation doesn't fit the contents. Furthermore, this is written in a sub-Jeeves-and-Wooster style with very irritating characters. This obscures the whole purpose for buying the book: culinary information.

I gave this one star because I couldn't give it none.
