Review
Evans' debut novel is a breathless roller-coaster ride ... Reminiscent of Rick Riordan with a hint of Neil Gaiman's Stardust ... fans of Percy Jackson will devour this and hope that the gods send a sequel. (Kirkus)
[A] relentlessly witty, fast-paced middle grade adventure ... This book is a page-turner littered with belly laughs that any adult will zip through. (M.G. Leonard, author of Beetle Boy)
This book is packed full of classical gods brought bang up to date with wonderfully ironic humour. (The Guardian) - --- --This text refers to an alternate kindle_edition edition.

About the author

Still unsure how it happened, Maz Evans is apparently the author of the bestselling WHO LET THE GODS OUT?, VI SPY and SCARLETT FIFE series, which have collectively sold over half a million copies to 22 countries worldwide. They have received over 30 award nominations, including the Carnegie Medal, Branford Boase, Books Are My Bag, Waterstone’s Children’s Book of the Year, Indie Children’s Book of the Year and CrimeFest Best Children’s Book.
She narrates the audiobooks for the series and her acclaimed live events have featured at Hay, Imagine, Edinburgh, Bath, Cheltenham, Bestival, Wilderness, CarFest and countless literary festivals and primary schools around the UK.
As an author, she has won the hearts of thousands of children. As a nuclear physicist, she has frankly been completely rubbish.

Take it away class:
This book is amazing! It is full of funny chapters and characters. This book is about a boy named Elliot and his mother who is unwell. He meets the constellation Virgo and accidentally lets out a death daemon. He gets help from the Gods and Virgo and they go on an adventure to put him back. It is full of ridiculous and crazy things and trust me, right after you read the first one you will love the second and to me it's even better than the first. I really recommend this book to Primary 5, 6 and 7 children who love adventure and fun but I really think anyone could enjoy it. Aqeelah
I really enjoyed WLTGO and think others will too. Very funny and I believe it deserves more than 5 stars. I loved all of the characters and thought over all it was amazing. and really moved me. I loved reading it in class.

I really life this book because it is very hard for me to find a book that I really like. Mao's book is very funny and I love the names of all the characters and how creative Mao's writing is. I think everyone in my class likes this book. When my teacher reads it, he puts on voices for each character so that it comes to life. My favourite character has to be Hermes because he says BOSH and MEGABOSH. This book is MEGABOSH!
Shravya

Jazmine- I would give this book a 5 star review because it is very funny, heartfelt and surprising. This book is perfect for Year 5 and 6 children because of the range of language and puns which younger children may not understand. This is one of the best books I have ever read and I would definitely recommend it. The plot centres around a boy called Elliot who has problems at home who discovers a constellation called Virgo who crashes into his cow shed. They both accidentally let free a Daemon and get into big trouble. The question is, will they both manage to escape their own troubles? You need to read this book to find out more!
Stan- An amazing 5 star must-read book which will make you laugh like a quacking duck and scream random stuff such as, "Mega bosh!", "Holy moly guacamole!" and "Snordlesnot!" The unlucky Elliot has to save the world and save his friends and save his mum- not much then! This perfect book is easily fitting for 9-10 year olds.
Lily- I would highly recommended this hilarious, heartfelt and adventurous book to 10 to 11 year olds. I would definitely rate this book an amazing 5 stars and I think that all of you out there should read immediately! I predict you'll be laughing out loud, crying wtih sadness and gasping with shock with every turn of the page. The plot is about a young boy called Elliot who finds a goddess of stationery in his cow shed and together they accidentally release Thanatos, Daemon of Death. Epic fail! I hope I have persuaded you enough to buy this unforgettable book.
Rhyli- I rate this a fantastic 5 star book because of its heartfelt, adventurous and funny plot. Once you reach the end of this marvellous story, you are guaranteed to want to purchase the sequels straight away. In the words of Hermes, this book is 'Mega Bosh!'. You can even act the story out as you read. Our favourite part to act out was the battle scene between the Queen and Hypnos- you will certainly be in shock as you turn each page! What will happen next to Elliot, Virgo and the godly gang?
Our main character is Elliot, he is a caring son with a difficult home life and is thrust into a wild adventure where he meets Virgo (an immortal) and many other Ancient Greek gods and goddesses. Will they be able to help him save the world!?
Our favourite characters were Elliot (because he is a generous, caring person), Virgo (because she's sassy but also helps Elliot), Zeus (because he's mighty, strong and funny) and Hermes (because he is funny throughout the book and plays a big part in the ending).
We recommend this book to anyone who enjoys adventure stories with a lot of comedy; it's also great for years 5 - 7 but people of any age could also love this book!
We want to read the second book in the series now!
