Amy-Jill Levine is E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Professor of New Testament Studies and Professor of Jewish Studies at Vanderbilt University. For more details on the parables, see her Short Stories by Jesus: The Enigmatic Parables of a Controversial Rabbi.

Sandy Eisenberg Sasso is the Director of Religion, Spirituality and the Arts Initiative at Butler University. She is Rabbi Emerita of Congregation Beth-El Zedeck and an author of many award-winning children’s books.

Margaux Meganck is a freelance artist and children’s book illustrator in Portland, Oregon. She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.

A very different take

The Prodigal Son story has a different take I have never heard before which was interesting to find in a child's book! Pictures are 20th / 21st century which is also unusual. Counting is included for the sheep and the message that everyone matters gets across nicely.

Who Counts is a creative retelling of three of Jesus' most popular parables: the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the prodigal son. I will be honest and admit that I haven't read the bible and although I did study religious education when I was at school this was something we didn't learn so even as an adult I have learnt from this book - 4 stars from me, easy to follow and understand and a good way of teaching these stories.
