Who I Am is based on Lead guitarist for Firenine, Roy Sykes. He is the quite one, the one who isn't always falling all over the groupies and keeps to himself quite a bit. This book is where we see the real Roy Sykes and we found out more about his past and the love of his life that broken his heart to the point that had him thinking love didn't exist.
Most of the book is mainly about his past and what made him how he is now. Roy used to deliver drugs, cocaine to be exact and he got himself in to some trouble. His mum was dying of AIDS and was helping his mum out with money. The only good thing in his life is Rosemarie. She is like a breath of fresh air and he falls for her hard but their relationship is full of heartbreak, especially for Roy. The second part of the book is based in the present and Roy's past comes back to haunt him. He's with his new love, Kelsey who is Eliza's best friend.
It's truly amazing to read and i had to be careful when writing this as i could have poured out ever bit of detail in one of my favourite books. These are really getting under my skin and i have to read Who I'm Becoming, book four. It is Brilliant!!
I loved the scenes where Gage and Eliza were there to give counsel and advice and make Roy and Kelsey see some sort of sense, in fact I'd have liked more interaction with them and the band. If you loved Who He Is and Who We Are as much as I did then you have to read Who I Am. Here's to more books in the FireNine series and a little more Gage to make this girl smile.
The first half of book is all about Roy's past and why he is so closed off......its a sad bitter story
Fast forward to present day & it focuses on his relationship with Kelsey, things come back from his past which puts thier relationship in freefall.......
I did enjoy it but in the second half of book there was not much involvement from the rest of the band, also would like to have seen more of Gage & Eliza
Looking forward to Montana's story....
It's overall a good follow up book.
