The book explores all sorts of things that TRULY clever kids should know - from Tebahpla (p40) - "Said Wye, Eggs double you fee; You tea is our Kew pea. Oh, en 'em 'ell K J; I hate G if he deceive BA" -
to date palms (60); proving 1 = 0 (p57); A Method for determining the age of your teacher (p78); Facts to Bamboozle Teachers (p82) and excuses for bad reports (p13).
There are also some very good maths tips, including:
Determining whether a number will divide exactly (p41)
"Any number can be divided by 2 if it's last digit is even
3 the sum of its digits can be divided by 3
4 its last TWO digits are divisible by 4
5 if it ends with a 0 or a 5
6 if the complete number can be divided by both 2 and 3
8 if the last three digits can be divided by 8
9 if the sum of its digits can be divided by 9
10 if it ends with a 0".
There are also a number of crosswords, and other similar puzzles to help keep active minds busy.
The humour is juvenile, and the book (if you're a parent) should by all accounts be kept away from your children until they've graduated. Until then, you'll laugh like an eight year old - enjoy!
