John Phillips has written a fascinating account of his father's life as a Polish resistance fighter and of his eventual defection to England in the Cold War. He talks of the difficult times had by Polish families which I know well from my own father's experiences. John continues the story with his time in Wimbledon in the seventies, and it brought back many memories for me. He tells of his life as a foreign correspondent covering conflict in such places as Bosnia and the Lebanon. All in all a fascinating and compelling read
