Sexual tension exists between Mac and Dixie from their first meeting, stretching like elastic almost to breaking point. Ms Adams has created the archetypal macho male and a feisty heroine, and shows their relationship with no-holds-barred erotic scenes that look set to reach the ultimate outcome until one of Mac’s legendary ex-girlfriends arrives in town.
A story full of action, deceit, and danger from unexpected directions that draws in the reader as surely as Dixie is drawn to Mac, no matter how hard so fights to kill her feelings for him.
I liked that the h is 21 and the H is 35. A nice age difference for me. Not a lot is made over it, although the hero does think he might be too old for her. I also liked that he's tall and sexy and that she's short (only 5'0) and has plenty of curves. She's cute and Southern, a little spitfire. I did think that she acted a bit young for her age a couple times, but I did like her. The hero was sexy with the touch of silver at his temples. Even when he was condescending or chauvinistic, I liked him.
They had good chemistry together. He was territorial of her, wanted to have her, and she was all sweet and innocent and ready to have him, too. A couple of sex scenes and they were good and steamy. I do wish there'd been a little more time with h/H together before they said they were in love. I wanted that push-pull to last a little longer. Maybe a little more bickering, some extra verbal foreplay, and a little more conflict with the age difference would have set it off for me.
There's a misunderstanding in the story, and I really don't mind that, but it did turn into a big misunderstanding that lasted for weeks. Both of them were so stubborn! I wasn't sure who frustrated me more. There are some minor editing issues, some typos, a word left out of a sentence here and there, but overall, I didn't find it too distracting. The story ends with this couple happy and in love, but one thread is left dangling and to be continued in the next book about the H's brother Sam.
A pretty enjoyable, easy, sweet romance, and a nice beginning to this series. I'd be willing to check this author out again.
There's anger 😡 love 💚 and sexual tension.💏
The only little comment which has nothing to do with the storyline is that there's some small word mistakes during the book 😐
When Mac and Dixie work together to find out who's vandalizing the houses, sparks fly between them.
I loved Dixie and her never-back-down attitude. People were constantly surprised to hear what came out of the mouth of such a small woman. I couldn't help but like Mac. He did want a relationship and tried so hard to keep his distance from Dixie but he failed.
This was an enjoyable humorous, romantic suspense with great characters. Unfortunately, it had lots of typing errors and generally the editing was not good. I even had trouble thinking of the word that was suppose to be there sometimes. I did love the cover and wanted to pick it up right away.
As this is Maggie's debut book, I was unsure what to expect... but after reading the blurb & looking at the cover I was excited to read more of what was inside. 'Whistlin' Dixie' is book 1 in the "Tempered Steel" series, I can't wait for more.
Straight away you got to meet both Mac & Dixie, both with stubborn, spit fire type personalities.. so within the first chapter your being pulled into a chemistry that both are fighting against. It was like a breathe of fresh air, to read about people not falling or knowing they are falling in love straight away & although generally opposites attract, these 2 are so alike it wasn't funny (personallity wise). Whilst reading Maggie's words had me laughing, crying, getting reading to hit something... although Dixie isn't known for being a spit-fire for no reason.... I was glued to the pages.
