There was so much feeling and chemistry between these two, there were crazy things happening, secrets being uncovered, crazy people popping out everywhere. It was really crazy entertaining. I just don't think I connected with these characters like I wish I had. Everything happened so fast, it seemed so unrealistic and then it was one crazy thing after the other... they didn't even let them breathe right for more than a minute. Their lives were crazy. I just wanted them to finally be happy in their little ranch.
One thing that I really didn't like was how Tara could never hold her ground. She always let Joel sway her stance with sex and it was freaking annoying. I get that he's hot and gets your body on fire but for someone who thought he had a baby momma behind your back you sure changed your tune fast girl. I didn't like how she became so weak for him like that.
This second chance romance had angst, suspense, lots of crazy secrets and spins and let's not forget the drama, it had a bit of that too.
I'ma be real honest, this was not the book I was expecting from that title and blurb. It was definitely a surprise, not a bad one but not exactly a good one either. I don't know man, I have serious mixed feelings about this book.
If you're intrigued give it a read and then let me know what you thought if it.
The story starts with the introduction of a very apprehensive Tara, who is just about to meet Joel, a former lover. It is clear that feelings are still alive. She is desperate to find a manager for her ranch in order to put it back onto its feet and that’s where Joel comes in. However, Joel is already a manager in a successful ranch and has no reason to leave – that is until Tara gives him an offer he just cannot refuse and Tara ends up getting more than she bargained for…
Joel is your broody, protective hero that us readers all go crazy for, with his calm and cool nature – he definitely has that hot ranch boy vibe. It is obvious from his proposition to Tara, no matter how angry , pissed off and confused he gets- one thing he knows for sure is he is not willing to let her go for a second time.
Tara is your strong – headed heroine however, she is insecure and emotional when it comes to her feelings for Joel like any other women would about someone they love. No matter how much she tries to deny attraction, thinking she got Joel all figured out she still knows that her heart has always belonged to him.
“ …he throws me down.
Then he kisses me, devouring me.
He’s staking his claim. Taking what is his.
And I let him. Because Joel does own me. I'm drowning in him.”
What I would say is, I would have loved to see a bit more jealousy coming from Joel’s side – and Tara making Joel work for it just a tinsy - tiny bit more... I feel like it ended too soon ! but that’s just me. However, What I love about this book is the love-hate relationship between Tara and Joel and their constant attempt to outwit each other with the snarky remarks. This romance novel is cleverly written with humor, sexual tension and raw emotion.
Susana Mohel definitely knows what her readers are looking for – steamy scenes, jealousy, romance and a hot confident hero to become our next book Boyfriend. LOVED IT!
There were many great parts of this book. The reunion was very bittersweet and made you want to read more. The attraction between the characters came across well.
For me, the constant hot/cold love/hate, it kind of gave me whiplash. I think a prologue of the past would of benefitted the story instead of the snippets throughout to give you better insight.
It definately has potential though.
Tara & Joel have a history from their teen years but been of different backgrounds her father separated them. Years later she needs his help but will Joel accept?
Nothing is as it seems & things are drastic at times.
A new author for me and I would read more from her.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
