Read on behalf of A Book Lovers Emporium.
As I write this I have happy tears on my cheeks. This is a great book. I love the whole clan of people and their family and friends. I can see how being in love with your best friends brother could be a risk to your relationship, but I would hope that, if I were in this position, that my bestie would be supportive. This is a very heart-warming story, which is very well written and quite addictive.
Ben had moved away from his family 10 years ago, only visiting a few times over the years with his girlfriends. Piper and Ash have been best friends/sisters, all their lives. Piper has had a crush on Ben ever since she knew what the feeling was and now Ben is back in town for good. His first night back with his childhood friends he spots a gorgeous red head talking animatedly with his sister; he is instantly attracted to her. His friends neglect to tell him who it is and he goes over to her and ends up kissing her. That is the beginning of their complicated relationship. Both of them are scared to tell Ash of their feelings as she has always had the motto 'ho's before bro's'. There are lots of mixed feelings flying around and reluctance to trust that this will work.
Who would get hurt? What would happen if they split up and Ash is put in a position where she has to choose between bff or brother? (Ash has a tendency to be very dramatic!)
This is definitely a great book and I would love to find out how the other characters find love; especially Ash and Jameson, I have a feeling they do NOT hate each other really. Fantastic book.

Andrea is a new author to me, I really liked the synopsis of this book so I thought I would give it a chance. While I enjoyed this book a lot there were parts of it that I struggled to connect with.

Bentley was such a loveable character, he was sweet, charming, thoughtful and a total gentleman. He only arrives back in town after being away for years and is instantly smitten with Piper before he knows who she is. I loved Ben, his character wasn’t like most of the guys we read about in books so it was nice to get such a nice guy for a change of pace.

Piper had me on the fence at times in the book, I understood her hesitation but at times I just wanted to shake her and make her realise what she was missing.

Pipers mother was a total piece of work, I wanted to reach in and slap her. I couldn’t believe the things she said to Piper and it made me realise where some of her insecurities came from.

I honestly found Ashton hard work, there were times in the book where she annoyed me so much I had to set it down for a minute. She was so self-centred at times and to be honest a spoilt brat. I hope if she is getting a book she turns my opinion of her round.

While I did enjoy this book there were a few times I found it a little slow. This book lived up to its name, it was a sweet read with a little bit of a kick to it at times.

***ARC provided in exchange for an honest review - Naomi / Scandalous Book Blog***

This was a fantastic read, I was hooked from the beginning and the story had an easy flow to it. This was a friends to lover romance but the road to their HEA isn't a smooth one. There are many obstacles to overcome and I loved reading their journey.

Ben left town right after High school, but now he is back. Piper is Ben's little sisters best friend, she has always had a crush on Ben but he has never looked at her that way.
One kiss is all it takes for Ben to know he will do anything to have the beauty before him, but with his sister forbidden anything to happen between him and her best friend things are going to be difficult.

Piper lacks self confidence after a bad break up she feels as if she isn't good enough but with Ben's tender words she starts to believe again. The only problem is her best friend, Ben's sister. Piper will not do anything to jeopardise their friendship, she is the sister she never had and the rock who has always held her up.

The attraction is strong and they struggle just remaining friends. In time they decide they want one another and they embark on a secret affair...

What will happen when the secret becomes public knowledge?, are this couple strong enough to ride the waves? Will they get their HAE?

5.0 out of 5 stars I want a Bentley of my own! 6 May 2017

**4.5 stars**

So, in true awesomeness of myself, I read this after reading book 2, Tequila and Tailgates. This is book one in the Country Road series, but I felt the books could be read independently of each other. There was no doubt after reading book 2 that I could read Bentley and Piper's story and oh am I ever glad I did.

Bentley has recently moved back to his home town after having been away for college and his previous relationship. So, when he finds himself with his buddies at the Country Road Bar, he finds himself staring at some gorgeous female he can't take his eyes off of and one he can't wait to introduce himself. When he realizes the gorgeous woman is Piper, his little sister's best friend, things chance or do they? I loved Bentley as character. He had a side I was dying to see and Andrea delivered. He showed Piper how important she was to him and that he wanted her and explore what their connection was. He gave her the space when she asked for it, but he never stopped loving her.

Piper has always crushed on her best friends brother Bentley. So when he kisses her it was everything and more. Piper is the character who I just want to crawl in through my kindle and love. She is gorgeous and has an amazing guy who wants to be with her, the only problem is she can't star out of her head. She is scared that she isn't enough and scared she'll lose not only her best friend but Bentley as well I'd something so goes wrong. I loved Piper and who is she. I loved watching her grow and accept her feelings for Bentley.

Bentley and Piper's story was just what I needed and I'm so glad I went back and read their story. I'm hoping we get to see Landon and Owen's stories next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Team Biper Forever! 21 July 2016

Andrea Johnston writes in a very easy style which makes me, the reader, feel very present in the moment with her characters. I feel like I'm watching her characters acting through a TV screen. She has a very descriptive style of writing and knows how to establish a scene in a book. She does this in Whiskey and Honey which is a fun and lighthearted read. I wanted to grab my kindle and give it a good hug after reading it because this type of book is why I read romance. The hero is a good man who cares for his family and friends, the story is full of a group of friends who make up a family unit who support each other and there is just enough conflict which makes me bite my nails hoping for the resolution that I crave.

This book is about Ben and Piper who are friends who have grown up with each other in a small town. Ben has been away for several years and has come back to his hometown and is immediately smitten with Piper, his little sister's best friend. One kiss changes everything for them. Even though the book focuses on Piper and Ben, they are a part of a group of friends who are like family. It was nice to read about them, and I hope Ms. Johnston continues this series with each character's story in this close-knit group.

Some other things I enjoyed were reading about a character's healthy relationship with an ex. It was refreshing to see that in a romance because it's pretty rare. Additionally, the small town setting was comfortable and made me feel right at home.

I recommend reading Whiskey and Honey on a rainy, Saturday afternoon while you are warm and cozy on your couch with a cup of tea in your hand. It's like wrapping yourself in a warm cocoon! It's such a sweet book with just the right amount of angst.

4.0 out of 5 stars Whiskey & Honey 1 Feb. 2017

I'm an AJ newbie with this one. And I can say I am glad I gave her a chance. This book held my attention from the very beginning. It was an easy read but still full of tension, issues and everything else needed to make a good book. And the secondary characters (always my fave) are so well written and transitioned so that you know who the next story is about. I can't wait for Jameson and Ashton's story!

Okay, back to this one. I think the only issue I had with this story was the secrets. I got the reasons behind them but what? Secrets are okay if they don't have the potential to truly hurt someone you love. I am only glad it worked out in the end.

I love AJ's choice of alternating points of view. It was nice being able to work through the issues with the characters as the story developed. Sometimes stories like this are lacking because you don't truly know how the other person is feeling or dealing with certain things. Andrea definitely brought a new level to this story with the way she went about it.

Read this book. Now. Then go find out what Jameson and Ashton are up to in the next story.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not my favorite.. 19 Jan. 2017

I really wanted to love this book, but I couldn't. I really didn't mind Ben, but I could not stand Piper. She was weak and completely juvenile. She pushed Ben away because she hated herself. She was such a negative nancy that I struggled to finish this book. I can usually handle a woman that is reserved and cautious, but Piper took this to a whole new level. As much as I liked the blurb the book fell short. Ben was a decent character, but I wish he wouldn't have been such a pushover and let Piper get away with being so negative about everything. All in all I would not read this book again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that has a reading style like myself. People that don't mind weak one-dimensional characters probably won't mind this because the story itself has promise. It was the characters that I found fault with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Forget boyfriend because he is too good for that 21 July 2016

Wow! Bentley Sullivan is now officially my book husband! Forget boyfriend because he is too good for that. I absolutely love how Andrea Johnston writes the story of Bentley and Piper. It is so easy and flows so well that you feel as though you are a character living their lives with them. For Piper Lawrence her dream man has always been her best friends brother. You feel her struggle and emotions of wanting to act on them but also holding back to keep her best friend in her life. She is sweet, loving, and has a bit of a sassy side. Bentley is the man most can only dream of. He's a man of integrity, manners, and one that just can't give up when he finds the woman of his dreams. The back and forth turmoil of being with the one you were meant for and the one you don't want to hurt is so powerful between these two characters that you can't help but to fall in love with them. I am so excited about this book that it will definitely be one I can read again and again. Also, I cannot wait to see what is next from Andrea Johnston!!
