Product Description

Innovative Design

drum
Less wasteful drying

The Whirlpool AZA 9790 tumble dryer has a less wasteful drying process. Unlike a conventional dryer which uses a traditional heating element to heat the drum, similar to a hairdryer or electric heater, this dryer uses a more efficient heatpump technology. It uses compressed gas to generate heat and so is much more economical and less wasteful of energy.

drum
A-40% Energy Efficiency

The AZA 9790 tumble dryer has an A-40% energy efficiency. This means it is 40% designed to be more efficient than an A-energy class dryer.

Intelligent drying

Fitted with Whirlpool's advanced sensor 6th SENSE technology, this dryer is intelligent when it comes to drying your clothes. Sensors continually monitor moisture in the drum and adjust the cycle time to achieve optimum drying results. Therefore, you no longer need to worry about your clothes being over-dried, and the dryer uses only the necessary resources.

Large drum capacity

With a large 9kg drum capacity you are able to dry larger loads including bulkier items such as towels and duvets. In addition, as there is more space for your clothes to rotate in the drum they will crease less.

Drying Convenience

For ultimate convenience this dryer has a wide opening door, to give you more space when adding and removing clothes. It also has a start delay option so you can choose at what time the dryer begins, as well as an indicator to tell you when to empty the filter.

Special Programmes

This dryer has some special programmes including delicates and big items such as duvets.

This dryer represents my worst purchase experience of a major appliance.

I bought this dryer on August 25, 2014. It was slow to dry to begin with, and over the next few months, the dryer took longer and longer to dry, to a point where it would not dry at all. I called customer support in February 2015 and they sent a repairman. The repairman adjusted some settings but said that the problem was down to the heat pump technology used in the model which could not be fixed. I followed his suggestions to keep the room warmer and well ventilated, but the dryer still took up to 8 hours to dry a regular load of clothes. I called customer support again and they sent out another engineer in early May 2015. The response from the engineer was the same as the first. I called customer support again, this time asking to return the dryer. They told me that the service company reported that the dryer was fixed and that I would need to have another engineer out in order to confirm that the dryer does not work. The third engineer visit was on 29 May, 2015. He ran diagnostics on the dryer and his response was the same as the previous visit. I asked him explicitly to report that the dryer could not be fixed. I called Whirlpool customer service on 2 June, 2015, and they told me that the service company again reported that there was nothing wrong with the dryer and that I would need another engineer to visit, and that if they reported again that there was nothing wrong with the dryer I could be charged for the service call. I refused this, as I now feel they are running me around in circles until I give up. The customer service person would not put me through to a manager and would not provide a replacement or refund for the dryer or any other options.

So I am now stuck with this broken dryer with apparently no recourse, even though there is a one year replacement guarantee. You can not imagine how frustrating it is to wait 8 hours for a load of laundry to dry. AVOID!

Three months later I'm still getting used to it to be honest. Need to press the button for extra dry for it to be dry enough to be put away. One annoying feature is that the timer gets down to about 15 mins and then suddenly shoots back up to 180 mins!!!!! Annoying when you're waiting for it to finish.

I bought this just before Christmas when my other, vented tumble dryer decided to stop working. This was the cheapest I could find this tumble dryer online. I'd never had Whirlpool appliances before but I'm very happy with this. There are lots of settings for you to use, although after a little bit of experimenting, I tend to use one setting most of the time (mixed load) as I find this gets the washing to a good level of dryness. I love the fact that its a sensor dryer and so doesn't stay on for longer than necessary. It also has a feature where the drum occasional turns while the washing is cooling down, thereby reducing the creasing. I find this really good, especially as with my previous dryer, ironing out the creases took as long as the drying took! Emptying the water reservoir is straight forward although with the amount of water that is stored in there, it can get quite heavy, so something to bear in mind. Cleaning the filters again is very easy and there is a light on the front telling you when the filters (both door and bottom) filters need emptying although if you get in to the habit of cleaning them regularly, you probably won't see these light up. I'm so pleased with this dryer that I've ordered a Whirlpool washing machine.

The service I recieved from this company was second to none. I ordered it late at night and once I received confirmation from Amazon with the delivery date, I emailed them asking if there was any chance it could be delivered sooner. I received a prompt and courteous email back very quickly, with a satisfactory answer. On delivery day, even though I wasn't home, I know that the company called to say when they were about an hour away which was perfect. I can't fault the service and would highly recommend both the product and the company.

Bought this machine from an on-line suppler just under 2 years ago for £499.00p. This machine has a large drum 9KG infact, impressive! It is also nice to look at. It might look nice, but the sensor is rubbish. If you put your mixed load in from the washing machine the dryer machine does not have the sence to dry each item seperatley from a mixed load. It will tell you that it's ENDED when a lighter items such as a T/ shirt, cotton shirt, is dry but then leave a larger cotten dress or evan a different quality cotton shirt or towel damp. You can imagine what would happen to jeans right? It has a dryness level button 1,2, and 3 which is normal level. I have never been able to use any of the other levels other than number 1. More dry level and most item still came out damp after 1-2 hours.

When I say long cycles I mean LONG CYCLES no half hour or one hour cycle is going to dry your mixed load in this heat pump condenser, sensor tumble dryer. If you want your jeans, towels sheets lets say 2-3 hours. Remember the A rating? and the 6th sense overdry protection. well tumble damper is what you get. A person can have 6th sense but a tumble dryer, well it's a machine so there goes that 6th sence. You will have to check if your washing is dry at the "end" cycle. Take out all the items and re-load with the damp items, because you are not allowed to interupt a drying cycle once started. Remember this machine is suppose to work out how long it takes to dry your mixed load.
There is also a drying time adjustment button so you can select the duration of cycle in ten minutes steps up to 180 minutes. well if this machine said "END" there is no way in hell this machine is going to let you use this option. we tried it and it said "ended" after a short time of tumbling..
