I bought this album yesterday at the album launch - I first saw Ninebarrow at a festival last summer and was blown away by their harmonies and beautiful songs - often inspired by local landmarks or traditions. I've heard many of these songs already at gigs, plus there are several new ones. I've been listening to the album today and can't decide on a favorite! They are all so beautiful - The Sea is a wonderful haunting tale, Birdsong is just plain gorgeous - and then there is the gory ending to Bold Sir Rylas! In fact my husband and I loved their music so much we chose another of their songs (amazingly not on the album - but on their previous EP) "Walk with me" to be played at our wedding ceremony - it was perfect.

If you haven't heard Ninebarrow before, check them out, you won't be disappointed. If you have heard them, then I have probably just preached to the converted anyway!

Can't wait to bump into them at a couple of festivals over the summer.

I purchased this album after seeing Ninebarrow perform live. I would not class myself as a 'folky', but I have to say it has been THE most played album in our house for the last 8 months. The lyrics, vocals, and musical arrangements are skilful and captivating, you would not be disappointed with this album.

This is a splendid disc. The songs are varied, the voices beautiful, and the performances are in the best tradition of pure folksong.
