I've wanted to read. Jay McLean book for such a long time now but something always comes up and these books get pushed to the back. So I was so glad to finally get the time to dive into Where the Road takes me. I'd heard so many good things about this book i was excited to get started on it. I'm glad to say it didn't disappoint, it turned out to be a beautiful well written story, at times a little sweet but still beautiful.
Blake meets Chloe on a deserted joggers path in the middle of the night, she's trying to forget and Blake no longer wants to feel. What starts that night is a journey that neither expected and Chloe especially doesn't want. Chloe decided a long time ago to never get close to anyone ever again. She knows what her future holds, she's dealt with it and plans to face it alone. That is until Blake Hunter, Blake Hunter is her change - her red letter day.
It's such a beautiful story of two young people falling so deeply in love that nothing will tear them apart, ever.
I'm not one to use quotes in my reviews but this book is packed with some of the best ones I've ever read so it would be a shame not to include one so heres my favourite quote - And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count, it’s the life in your years.

What an emotional roller coaster of a ride this book is!
I loved it. Totally loved it.
I empathized with Chloe and Blake. Chloe's situation was a hard one to live with.
Blake, what to say about Blake? For an 18 year old he is just awesome. So mature but awkward. He deals with Chloe so well.
I love all the characters in this book and it had me laughing out loud and sobbing my heart out, I'm talking snot bubble, full on holding my breath and not being able to see through my tears, sobbing.
Fantastic book. I WILL be reading more from Jay McLean. She has given me ALL the feels.
A new fav author to add to my list.

If I could re-read a book for the first time over and over again, experience those feelings just one more time, there is no doubt in my mind that 'Where The Road Takes Me' would be that book. I have been trying to find words for my review that will do this book justice, because it is so dear to my heart. Blake and Chloe's story is not just a book, it is a POWERFUL journey of friendship, heartbreak, hope, healing and beauty. I am jealous of everyone who will get to read this for the very first time!
Jay McLean is a literary genius, my go to author, an author who makes reading her words an absolute privilege, this soul consuming story is her best work to date. Her growth and maturity as an author is noticeable and I am so glad I was holding her hand for this journey.
How each and every word is written with such intensity and heart, you can feel that with each page you read and it absolutely blows my mind, I highlighted on every page, because the way Jay writes the feels, are words that will stay with you and consume your mind, body and soul for always! I personally read for feels, so trying to put into words the feels I got from this book, is near on impossible. They were a blend of so many emotions, from ugly crying my heart out to swooning the next second, laughing so loud I had to leave the room for frightening my children, shouting at Jay through my kindle for being so incredible!
The characters hold such a unique beauty and charm that you fall in love with each and every one of them, they will stay in your heart and soul forever.
The story is relatable, and will give many people the strength and spirit needed to fight through similar heartache.
Jay McLean, I am in complete awe of you, your mind and your incredible skill for bringing us these outstanding words. You own my soul, always! I love you.

Chloe is your typical 18 year old student with a massive secret. She keeps herself invisible and aloof and gets attached to no one. That is until she bumps into Blake one night. Blake also has secrets, but when he crashes into Chloes life she changes everything for him.
This is an emotional, heartbreaking and heartwarming journey, you will not regret taking.
It deals with a difficult subject and as the story opens up you realise why Chloe seems to be a cold person, and why she had such high walls that no one has yet got through.
My heart was in emotional overdrive reading this story, and i couldn't breathe or put it down till i got to the end.
I don't want to give to much away, but Blake and Chloe's journey isn't an easy one, its harsh at times, and they have to deal with issues and aspects of life none of us really want to have to face.
This book will make you laugh, cry and ugly sob !! but you will love every single word of it !
A definite must read !!

The idea of this was good. The start was great when the characters first meet and both main characters seem interesting. However the book quickly lost my interest. Everything is too clean cut. Chloe's character does not make sense, there are some tragedies that are quickly forgotten. Everything slots into place and becomes too perfect, its just not real enough for me. I really wish I hadn't bothered. This book would be more suitable for younger readers.
