The book is split into short easy to read sections and shares the ups and downs of planning and executing the Craven's dream of taking a year off to sail around the world with their three young children.
You don't need to be into sailing to understand this, after reading the book you'll be in a much better place to make your dreams come true.
I was fortunate enough to spend a little time with a relaxed Craven family (and their crew) in St Lucia but had not realised how much planning, preparation and commitment had gone into making their shared vision real. This book is as much about relationships, team building, leadership, risk management and family as it is sailing – all of which translate well into other areas of life where there are opportunities for improvement through change.
I also know a little more about water makers, diesel fuel systems and emergency rigging repairs which might prove useful at some point in the future. Thank-you.
I sailed around the world with Caspar in The Bt Global Challenge yacht race, I then had the privilege to join Caspar and his lovely family for two sections of his second round the world voyage on Aretha. The first 18 day leg from the Canary Islands to St Lucia and then from Cape Town to San Salvador in Brazil via St. Helena. The Cravens are an inspirational family and great company on and off the yacht. They were a team and they all took part in the adventure which I am sure will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
The book is so easy to read with district chapters, illustrations and headings. The indexing makes it easy to return to chapters which you want to read again. This is not just about a voyage around the world but also a lesson to us all to follow are dreams, plan adventures, get the most out of life and squeeze every ounce of juice out of the Lemon.
Life is for living
Grasp it with zeal and gusto
Follow your dreams
Just a wonderful read.
