I saw the film a couple of years ago and forgot about it. After finding it on Amazon i bought it on DVD and have watched it about 10 times since. After spending ages looking for the soundtrack to go with it i was really excited about getting the CD. the songs are so brilliant and the album flows so well. Although not really a big country gal, i love each and every song and really reccomend any one watch the film which is just brilliant and let it live on through the music.

A nice blend of raw music from the Southwest US with the fresh flavour of the movie within it, but also some nice tracks that stand well in their own right. For example,'Beyond the Blue' by Emmylou Harris has that fantastic escapist, "drivin' in the car to anywhere and nowhere" feel to it. And of course there are the great favourites such as 'So Young' by the Corrs and a terrific rendition of 'Only You' by Lonestar. All good tracks, although some lyrics can be a little predictable, especially for the love-theme, 'There You Are' by Martina McBride. It is a shame that her talent is wasted on lines like "When I'm reaching for the light, in the middle of the night".. Catchy tune nevertheless, and as with the other tracks such as, 'Grow Young With You', by Coley McCabe, you'll find yourself humming the tunes for the rest of the day and singing "Crazy barefoot lovesick kids..." till your friends get tired of hearing that line only and borrow the CD to discover the rest of the song..!
Most definitely worthy of the car stereo.

HASH(0x957a6d98) out of 5 stars The Best Original Songs! 21 Feb. 2002
By Kathy T. Farren - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Where The Heart Is has some of the best original songs for a sound track I have ever heard. There is not one song on this CD that you wouldn't like and that is very rare. They are all AWESOME! From the originals to the older classics. Great movie, great CD! How it got over looked for an award is beyond me.

HASH(0x962e9d38) out of 5 stars Great CD in Time 23 July 2002
By Brittany - Published on Amazon.com

I LOVED this movie, so I was psyched to get the soundtrack, and I love it! I fell instantly in love with "Shake my Soul" and "beyond the Blue," but it did take some time for me to enjoy the whole CD. "Few and Far Between" and "Rowdy Booty Time took some getting used to, but now I can honestly say that I enjoy every single song on this CD....besides "Beat of the Heart"...I wasn't a fan of the song in the movie, and I guess I still don't like, but don't let that stop you from missing out on the rest this CD has to offer!

HASH(0x957a8210) out of 5 stars This Soundtrack Changed My Life 3 Jun. 2000
By Jason L. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
The only other movie that used music as well as this one was GoodFellas. That's why I had to buy this soundtrack immediately after I saw the movie. Now I'm not a big fan of country music, but after seeing the movie I just couldn't stop singing that Beth Nielsen Chapman song "Shake My Soul," gonna shake my sould...do do doo do do... It's the kinda song that just sticks with you. And then of course you've got Lyle Lovett doing a nice rendition of the Ray Charles classic. This soundtrack hasn't left my CD player for weeks. I have become so obsessed by the Nashville music displayed on this record that I plan on vacationing there, It's not often that I think a CD is worth $15, but I was actually willing to pay $20 for this one. Thanks you for giving me the opportunity to discover something new. This record has changed the way I view life.
